As a primarily aircraft modeler I'm not as well versed on the details, etc of armor models. That said, when I decide to build a armor kit I try to do plenty of research so, hopefully, I build it "right". I'm still in the very early stages of this build so we will see how it goes.

Exactly, John.  Just remember though, that the hole where the HVAR penetrated the hull should be pushed inwards around the edges...

There are plenty of us here willing to answer any questions, I am sure.

In fact, here are some of tiger1.info owner David Byrden's call-outs on this very kit:  http://tiger1.info/models/products-page/DR6700

If you wanted to do something different from the included schemes, the s.PzAbt 508 were present at Anzio and the later defense of Northern Italy, and some were mid-production.

Thanks! Some good info there. Right now I'm planning on the one for PzAbt 502 in Estonia. White camo. :)

I'd be interested in seeing how the whitewash over Dunkelgelb comes out. I'm so used to seeing it over the dark gray.

I know jack squat about tanks.

Well, back during the war I used to use them to swat those pesky flying things out of the air:

Now that I've cleaned up all the little molding tabs it's time to hit it with a dk. yellow base coat.

Are you doing those by hand? They're so clean and sharp.

I couldn't paint the rims that neatly by hand, especially that many.

Spray the dk. yellow then hand paint the black rims. Tedious but I've found it to be the best way. :)

I used to paint rubber tires and roadwheels by hand.  Then I went to Desert Storm.     Overspray everywhere.  So now I just use my finest tipped airbrush.  I have seen pics of German gear with overspray on the rubber.

Saves tons of time.

I wouldn't expect the repair depot chaps to take the time to remove all the tires before repainting, as getting the tanks back in service was the priority and not neatness of random camouflage.

BTW, I've started painting roadwheels the same way unless I'm representing a fresh vehicle.

I plan to use some MIG pigments on this build and have the needed colors on hand and ordered. What do you armor guys use as a "fixer"? And is it really necessary? Thanks in advance. :)

The two fixers I know most about are ammonia like windex and turpentine.    The Fixers not only 'fix' it to the surface, they also cause blending effects.

Thanks! Windex I have on hand so I'll give it a try. :)

Remember, when it comes to rust bear in mind most of these vehicles saw about 3-4 months at best before being totaled. When you look at the allotment orders for the various PzAbt, they were receiving replacements at a pretty steady clip so nothing is getting the chance to get its rust on. The safest bet is always those spots the crew step on and knock into on a daily basis, and the exhaust system obviously. For those I use metallic/graphite coloring pencils to create worn effects and such; the tip gives good control as opposed to the sponge technique which IMHO always looks like 'rural teenagers vs stop signs' if you know what I mean.
