Ironically Smitty I was just looking at Shizuoka via Modelling News to see if there was a listing........and wham bam here it is. Thanks.......

who do you think will be getting excited about the I-16’s......

I can think of three off the top of my head. It is great news that other companies are entering the frey. This list is from cybermodeler

The Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind should be out before the end of the year, photos of some of the mold tooling has been posted on their Farcebook page. This one is at the top of my acquisition list !

  1. Well, the SH kits are certainly not shake and bake but I haven't found them to be all that bad, I built their I-16 and P-36 and didn't find them all that taxing and they came out to my satisfaction i-16-32-b21.jpg

I’d love a big Whirlwind but........once bitten twice shy with SH ......

There is no need to fear.  Think of it as an opportunity to use your acquired model building skills.  At least it should be a few degrees better than scratch building your own.;)

... or using the old ID vac form, whose shape is most likely dubious ...

PS : thanks to Westland, there was a civilian-registered Whirlwind for a short period of time after WWII. which gives me a good reason to buy the kit, without breaking my « no camo » self-inflicted rule ;)

The only big scale plane I feel is missing is a good P-38. Doesnt have to be Tamiya,  just not the trumpeter thing.  Past that, I can find more than enough to keep me happy.  Even with my meager stash of 9 I have enough to last for awhile.
