It had a lot of power in the later versions but when they put on the taps, no beer.....

been dabbling with some lead wire, a first for me but works a treat. A bit like the original but not too much. Must listen more to Neil and not get too focused on details.

Also found a Tamiya beaufighter control column in the sparesbox. Would fit great in the Halifax.

Some more progress,

The cockpit progresses nicely and is mostly finished. I was planning on scratchbuilding a pilot seat but life is too short so I used the kitpart. The engineers folding seats are fitted. A friend gave me some guitar string which made the heating tubes in the starboard side. Very pleased about that. 
oh and never mind the very long legs the pilot of this Hally has to have.

Things still to do are the throttle box and pilot’s instrument panel. Something I have been dreading for a long time.

It should with all those windows.

Some more progress,

I managed to make something that resembles the distinctive throttlebox.

Those levers nearly made me crosseyed.

But I am pleased with the result, pheww.
All I need to do is the pilot’s instrument panel.

Thanks chaps,

No progress the past few weeks to report. The IPMS SIG has a Malta project on the go and and I am currently working on a 1/32 Hasegawa Spit VB

with big ugly Vokes filter under it's nose. Having recently bought a house and selling the current one doesn't do much for modelling as well with the

decorating and move on the cards end of March.

But the good news is that hopefully soon I have a fully dedicated mancave where I can airbrush more easily than at the dinner table.

So bear with me.

And @ Neil, finish the damn thing will ya!:D:D

Ha ha, getting there. I've ordered some more 0.5mm plastic sheet so should get your canopies formed next weekend :)

Any pics of your spit? I rather like them with big chins! I did the Airfix 1/24 one a few years ago. 

Hope the move goes smoothly, it's nice having man space, we moved about 4 years ago, partly for the same reason!

Here it is. It's the old Hasegawa tool but a better option than the Revell Mk II. I couldn't leave it alone though and

removed the radiator bath and replaced that with a Revell one. Also increased the depth of the radiator bay as 

it should as the Hasegawa bay is too shallow.

Wow!! That´s some nice scratch work here!! As expected coming form you mate! But you know, probably, when you will be near the end, someone will release a new Manchester in 1:48... ;) ;)

Got the replacement sheet today so all being well, the canopies will be done this weekend :)

Cees, amazing work here.  That grey thing looks all the world like Grandmother's Chesterfield. Complete with plush pillows. Flower pattern?

It's probably truer to say that once they got rid of all the crap which threw the C of G aft and overloaded the tyres, it reverted to being "a good bomber"! Halifax woes were pretty much all due to two issues, overloading and disadvantageous movement of the C of G. The latter became a particular problem with the arrow-shaped and somewhat anaemic fin/rudder, partially corrected by the newer rectangular fins, but mostly corrected by a major heaving-session, at squadron level, of all the added "cool stuff" - extra armour plate etc, which had gradually accreted over the development of the aircraft. There was nothing, fundamentally, wrong with the airframe, imho.

Well, it took some time but the housemove went very well. Despite my fears the Covid-19 situation might throw a spanner in the works.

my mancave is up and running and I could’t wait to test it. So here is the Halifax with a coat of interior green.

i am very pleased and I do not have to clear the dining tabel anymore.

Airbrushing is much more relaxed now. I masked and sprayed the forward section of the cockpit black. Also the front face of frame 5 and some seats throttlebox and engineers panel. There is some overspray but nothing major. This will serve as a basis for detailpainting to hopefully bring all this to life.
