Martinnfb
there is something very appealing about this ugly duck, great show my friend, I love it by every post
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted April 17, 2020 Author Administrators Share Posted April 17, 2020 I think it’s a beautiful aircraft, designed to fly and fight. Her coloration makes her unappealing, but her lines show her as a stout quarter horse. I don’t think I’d want to meet her in an He.51
GazzaS
I agree on two points... one...It's a great looking build! Two... it's a fugly aircraft. Nice work, Ern!

If you can picture the plane in NMF with yellow wings, a speed ring on the engine, or better tet a bumped cowl like a Stinson SR-8 with an open hub prop, followed by wheel spats, you begin to see the beauty of the design. It's actually not an ugly airplane. The classic gull wing is pure winged nirvana, and either a speed ring or an open radial would smarten this ship right up. Polish khaki is one of those colors that just sucks in light and destroys it, so that's not the best way to be able to judge the beauty of a design.
TJTX
I agree with Ernie. I thought this was a butt ugly airplane (beautiful kit though) until I saw the picture Hubert posted of the white one with wheel pants. That was a beauty! It's like the stereotypical nerdy girl in a movie that takes her glasses off and let's down her hair.

I think the things that I find unattractive are the Cone-shaped spinner and the un-tapered cowl. The rest, bar the Polish khaki is fine with me. The Khaki reminds me too much of "gówno".

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted April 19, 2020 Author Administrators Share Posted April 19, 2020 Well folks, I’ll have a few pointers to show tomorrow, but as we sit right now, this little aircraft is almost finished. She needs wheels, oil cooler, Venturi, windscreen, and find out where the pitot tube flew to, and reattach it. A bit of a flat coat applied so my Bragdon powders stick better. I’ll just use a bit of soot around the engine and cowl. Then string the dipole and I’ll call her done. 7

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted April 19, 2020 Author Administrators Share Posted April 19, 2020 Getting closer in all her light absorbing drabness. A few more parts and details to apply, plus powder weathering, then followed by a semi gloss clear weathering powder works best on a dead flat finish

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted April 21, 2020 Author Administrators Share Posted April 21, 2020 So I’m giving it just a tiny bit of life, a used, not abused look. A few streaks, then tomorrow some powder rubs, and then a light overall brownish filter. 9

HubertB
Don’t forget (but I am sure you know ) that the exhaust collector ring was heated steel - and not brass, nor black. Hubert
DocRob
Oh Ernie, she looks great, what a nice little plane, even sleek. I can envision a 'what if' racer and can't wait to see the PZL in metal livery by Hubert. Makes me almost regret that I postponed the purchase, because of WNW panic buys.
