Spread wings do it for me, I always like my builds to be buttoned up and showing the complete airframe, for me the only excepton would be for multiple builds on a carrier flight deck where space was at a premium. Cheers Dennis

Moved the 1/32 stuff out of the loft last year, but the 1/48 1/35 and 1/350 are still up there, have to build faster. Cheers Dennis

I go away on holiday for two weeks and it all goes wrong, but it looks like you have turned it around, I hate having to backtrack but once you see a problem it will always be there, it's better to bite the bullet and fix it, so you have done the right thing as far as I am concerned. I'm pretty boring where paint is concerned Xtracolor and Sovereign Colourcoats are my tried and tested brands, if needed I still have a stash of Humbrol and Modelmaster enamels sittng in the study on standby as it were. What a shame I would have bought a 1/32 scale version in a heartbeat but not a 1/35 scale kit. Cheers Dennis

Yes that is my approach as well, at the moment the Spitfire is in the paint shop so I am doing prep work on the next "masterpiece" while I am waiting between coats. Cheers Dennis -

This from Edgar the late Spitfire expert in a Britmodeller thread about the crowbar. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/48160-another-spit-question/ Posted 25 April 2010 - 08:43 PM On the door 23-1-42; before that (3-2-41) beside the seat (right side,) and it could have been plain steel, bronze green, or black, never red (until post-war.) Edgar It was retro-fitted, to all Marks, but not until those dates. Edgar Cheers Dennis -
Lots of information about this one over on Britmodeller, here's a link, it does mention a Techmod decal sheet as well. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235084090-spitfire-ix-uf-q/ Cheers Dennis

Hi Peter, I think the armour plate on all Spitfires was IG, and on the XVI the area under the canopy was camouflage, below is a modern photo but it gives you the idea, just ignore the modern red crowbar. Cheers Dennis -
Just got this from Ukraine via Hannants, looks good Cheers Dennis

Coming along nicely, I must build one of those Tamiya Spitfires some day, I have a few in the stash waiting for me. Cheers Dennis -

That looks terrific John, a testimony to your skill and perseverance, and it makes me a bit more confident about building mine, which after reading reviews of the kit I was not so sure of. Cheers Dennis -

In real life that Spitfire amazed me, for years I drove passed it when it was a "Gate Gardian" at RAF Sealand near where I live, sitting out in all that the weather could do to it, then it disapeared only to resurface in airworthy condition. They did a fantastic restoration job on it, and your rendition looks great. Cheers Dennis -
Flaps up and elevators down would be the norm. Cheers Dennis

Hi Peter, I do not have much information on this subject but there was a Britmodeller thread about it, https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235072060-heller-spitfire-xvi-identity/ Cheers Dennis -

Painted on markings are definately the way to go, once you have got the "knack" you will not go back to decals. Cheers Dennis -
That looks great, I'm looking forward to seeing the masks come off. Cheers Dennis

That looks great, after I finish my current builds I might go on a USN 3 kit theme and include the SB2C. Cheers Dennis
