  1. Already have Mike, Wingsectioning on the agenda later today. Cees
  2. Glynn Powell in New Zealand has been building new Mosquito airframes for several years now. He uses all the original materials and techniques. There are many pics of just the wooden construction on the web. The wood is actually very light of colour. Perhaps this helps. Cees
  3. Hi Paul, Any progress on this great build? Cees
  4. Hi George, All perspex. Those turrets were some of the earliest developed by fraser-nash. Here is a general arrangement drawing of the Manchester Cees
  5. So the rear and dorsal turrets need to be completely newmade. Cees
  6. Nice colour photographs, even that early in the war. Cees
  7. Hi Clark, Welcome to LSM. Hadn't spotted you earlier. The catch is that the Manchester was fitted with two Rolls royce Vulture engines, and the Lancaster had four Merlins. The span of the Manchester was shorter as well. So the outer wings need to be sawed apart and two Vulture nacelles need to be scratchbuild. I did it before on a Tamiya Lanc so the project is feasible. Abd it is fun fun fun. Cees
  8. Hi all, After two consecutive displays at Telford the time has come for the HK Models prototype Lancaster To start a new career, to transform into it's original twinengined predeccessor the AVRO Manchester. the basic kit has been carefully disassembled into it's major parts. Luckily all parts came away cleanly. The transparencies are opaque and cannot be used but will provide great service as masters for new parts. The model is almost devoid of details but will provide a great canvas for rescribing etc. This thread will only be posted here on LSM as a long term project. I am looking forward to scratchbuild the interior etc. Anyway, here are some pics for starters. Cheers Cees
  9. No worries Ralp, I had to work anyway Yesterday evening I spent some hours trying to nail the very subtle rear nacelle shape using a plastic card template. But the shape is very very subtle so gave up. But I have found a 1/48 scale drawing in the Scale Modellers Datafile which will be of great help. Too easy is boring isn't it Cees
  10. Ralph, It looks much better like that. Cees
  11. Session over, Here are the almost finished (save some filling and polishing) single piece flaps and fitted in the flapshrouds. Looking like the prototype flap set up already. I am happy. Cees
  12. Is it possible to overspray a very light mist of flesh to tone down the colour? Cees
  13. Great builds Ralph, The Mk I especially looks great bar the spinner. It looks like a Mk II but is wrong for an early Mk I. Cees
  14. Very nice, Those fuel lines on the outside will they not be in the way of the fuselage covering? Cees
  15. Don't know about tubing on the landinggear but with heavier loads carried I would suspect some beefing up of the undercart was Needed. Just finished bringing the gap on the flappies, following by a heavy sanding session later. Sander Schuurmans
  16. Sorry to be a bit late at the party, but this is one very nice build. Oh and about that unknown aircraft type (if it hadn't been identified it yet) I think it's a Junkers 86. Keep this build going. Cees
  17. Jeroen, As far as I know the landinggear was the same throughout the operational life of the Mosquito. This was one of the few types that were "right" from the start. Apart from the nacelles, wingtips, and short span horizontal tailplane the basic airframe didn't change. Cees
  18. Crappy pic time. Both split flaps in the process of being unsplit flaps. Taping them flat to the cutting mat serves as a jig to Keep everything flat. Flat flaps so to speak. Cees
  19. This is very nice. I am working on a conversion of the prototype Mossie in 1/32. Looking at your work I wonder if a section of the fuselage/wing Could be done to show the wooden construction. Hmm.......... Cees
  20. Looking forward to seeing this evolve Arno. Cees
  21. Must be Van Gaalish: he always gets his sin ( meaning he always gets what he wants). Cees
  22. Very nicely done, you have earned yourself a glass of Cavia. Cees
