  1. Well, most all airshow goers in North America have seen the Snowbirds Team, so the Tutor is well known on this side of the Atlantic.
  2. No wonder nobody gets the cowl shape right. They all walk on the darn things and bend them to crap
  3. Kinda did that with my big RCAF Patrol Bomber Lanc X. Better yet, I talked a manufacturer to market my block tread main wheels, my 1/32 postwar 1950’s RCAF Lanc decals, etc. My next Lanc foray has the potential of becoming a Lancastrian or a York…
  4. The Helldiver as an aircraft doesn’t light the fires of every aviation enthusiast, as let’s face it, it IS a bit awkward and homely looking, but if you are in to WW2 USN carrier borne aircraft, the Helldiver played a HUGE role. The Helldiver sank more tonnage of any other USN aircraft, despite only coming into Service in 1943, half way through the war. Like it or not, it was a VERY effective weapon for the Navy. It was quickly retired after the war simply because it’s mission was obsolete. The Navy went away from dive bombing because as methods for precision level bombing became effective, the Helldiver wasn’t needed anymore. But when it had a mission, it was damn good at it.
  5. Hopefully marking for the Second Flight Training Wing, “The Big 2”, the Snowbirds Demonstration Team, and hopefully some Malaysian marking as well.
  6. Apparently the rumor mill is churning out reports of the development of a new tool 1/48 Canadair Ct-114 Tutor. I have mixed feelings on this, as it’s a small airframe and is the perfect size for 1/32, being that the real jet was designed around closely matching the size and performance of the P-51 Mustang. But, given that no decent kit really exists of this famous jet trainer, any new tool kit will be a welcome addition.
  7. I just started looking ahead to the various rear canopy fixes out there, and it doesn’t appear too bad of a fix, IF you feel comfortable cutting clear parts, that is. It’s certainly doable, but some folks may wish to wait for an AM repair. I’m not one of those.. 🤣
  8. Well we finally got an actual F-4EJ and I’m incredibly stoked over that. Thrilled actually.
  9. I had the Hasegawa Japanese Phantom and in a moment of weakness, sold it.
  10. How? Which filler needs to be eliminated? I understand it’s methanol injection, but where is that tank located?
  11. And guys, just as an aside, Fran and I really appreciate your help in helping moderate this place, even if it’s just reporting something. We talked Martin and Scott in to helping as they can, and between us, there would always be someone around to shout at if something needs fixing. We may look at adding a person to cover the Far East time zones as our forum continues to grow some. Right now, we’re mostly Europe and North America, but we have a few folks here who still live down there and insist on spending all their waking hours clinging to the earth to keep from falling off…. 🤣
  12. Odd that, isn’t it, Scott? We get a brand new release of a 109, along with a Helldiver, a Vampire, and a long awaited shark nose Curtiss Hawk, and there’s literally nothing new released for them. The Helldiver is seriously slim pickin’s, which is a real surprise to me.
  13. I have the first edition AR.196 (twin float), and also a resin version of that airplane as well. HPH maybe? I do have the catapult as well, so if I ever get Gung Ho. HPH makes a really nice replacement canopy for the Revell kit, although that Revell kit is VERY hard to find these days.
  14. I built the Academy F-4B as an F-4N, and am piddling away with the Tamiya F-4B, right now. Like many here, I’ve turned to 1/48 for modern jets, simply due to space requirements. They’re big enough to give you all the detail, but take the same footprint as a 1/32 WW2 fighter.. I want to try a ZM Phantom, and it’ll most likely be that superb JASDF edition!
  15. You got AMS BAD, Rog! 🤣 Welcome to the Club! 😎😀😬😂
  16. I think kit makers are finally figuring out that us AMS infected folks install HGW…. So why waste the time on belts. ICM figured that out years ago…
  17. My record of completion is almost as good as yours. but at least it gets us building something different. I’m looking at an FF.33L right now, thinking it might be a fun build…..
  18. Anything goes as long as it’s not microscopic. I misplaced my microscope. I try to make it easy, not hard for y’all.
  19. I think we can swing that, Peter. I need to finish my Mig and my Helldiver. JohnB I’m not! I can’t build one of these in three sleeps
  20. As far as ships go, I’m cool with it. 1/350 is a good scale for dreadnoughts, and 1/64 is decent for sailing ships.
  21. Agreed on some of the engineering, but these are designed for the home market and they really like the level of internal detail. Us, not so much, but I talking to the Old Man and his family, this approach is looked upon favorable in Japan. Based on that, he really needs to do a P-38, P-39, and P-47. Three famous aircraft with VERY interesting engineering
