Here in B.C. they are saying we are good for stage 3 opening, which means we are no longer under a mandatory mask order, and a lot of us have had the first shot and lots have and are getting the second....... so with luck....................................... -

The caging bolts should be removed from each brake pot, as caging bolts are for 'caging' the brakes, meaning they will compress the spring inside the brake pot ( actual technical term is 'spring brake ) Caging bolts are ONLY used to release the brakes manually when they cannot be released by the air system.... as in for towing etc, when the engine and compressor are not functional... so in short, NO caging bolts should be used unless the air brake system is needed to be used manually to release the brakes, IF the caging bolts are used, the brake on that wheel is 'out of service' and that is not permissible due to DOT regulations. As I'm sure you and others are aware, the diaphragm inside the spring brake pot is what holds the brakes OFF, and it is the spring inside the pot that engages the brakes, so if there is a low air or no air, the spring takes over and locks the brakes up, in order to release the brake in that scenario, the spring must be compressed, and that is what the caging bolt does, one must manually insert the caging bolt into the center of the spring brake pot and crank it dwn with a 3/4 inch wrench, once that is done the brake is no longer operable, and needs to be taken to the shop. So , if it were me, I would snip all the extending bolts off all spring brake pots..... -

Ron, make sure you nip off those "caging bolts" on the two rear brake pots... , she is looking really good... -

Also , there is another consideration, the three tanks could be as follows, Tank One -wet tank, tank 2 reservoir for front brakes, and tank 3 & 4 for rear brakes, which upon reflection and thinking about it, that is much more the correct scenario.....which I guess would be called a dual air brake system...... which gives a primary and secondary braking system..... some tanks have a Baffle or wall inside and are actually TWO tanks in one, but you would never know it by looking at the tank itself, as it is all internal.... and would only know that IF you were the guy driving.... so... Most heavy-duty vehicles use dual air brake systems for safety. A dual air brake system has two separate air brake systems, which use a single set of brake controls. Each system has its own air tanks, hoses, lines, etc. One system typically operates the regular brakes on the rear axle or axles. The other system operates the regular brakes on the front axle (and possibly one rear axle). Both systems supply air to the trailer (if there is one). The first system is called the “primary” system. The other is called the “secondary” system -

So, in answer to the pending question, yes, supply tank, the one directly from the compressor.... is what we call the 'wet' tanks due to the compressor oils and water from compressing the air, don't want that crap in your air lines.... in the old days we had to drain all air tanks at the end of the day, now today they have "Air Dryers', plus the driver is supposed to drain the tanks,.................. heavy on the 'supposed to'... -

Cathy and I get shot #2 July 4 ....... lets hope this is the beginning of the end of all this crazyness -
So......................... my old Ford truck, '68 f-250 2whl dr, 390 4 spd, ALL original, NEVER seen snow, and parked since 2005........... have to start her and get her moving as she has to come to the 'new' house.....replaced the points, and condenser, poured a few drops of gas in the carb, and she flashed up like she was running yesterday !! A bit rough at first, but smoothed right out, not bad for 16 year old gas............. I kept putting in fuel stabilizer, every year and the gas till smells fresh and is obviously good... have to loosen the back brakes, got one side done, and will do the other side, maybe tomorrow, and she can be easily moved...... she is very dirty, but nothing a good bath won't cure..... to say I was surprised is an under statement.... and no drips or leaks on the back brakes, so maybe the wheel cylinders are still good..... maybe...
