American trucks......my soft spot......
Jeff replied to a topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
This guy is in a Pickle ! And when I had our equipment trailer and was humping a loader or a back hoe, my butt always puckered a little bit going under over passes and rail bridges..... I knew I was clean , but it still used to make me pucker just a little...... I was always better with the low bed, I knew all was well then.... -

Now you guys need to get a Lowbed and Danny can haul the Cat from job to job................. sounds like a business, in the offing to me ! But with the lowbed you will mot likely need a 'jeep' and a 'booster', with a pilot car and permits as that Cat will be very heavy with the 'U' blade and ripper ! -

Started your career in 1990 ! Geeeeezze now I really feel old, I started in 1977.............. The wheels and tires turned out perfectly, what did you use for the tire paint, and the masking looks like you absolutely nailed not getting anything on the rims too..... do you have a circle cutter? Too bad the military uses those crappy tires, in real life they aren't worth a poop in the mud....................................Absolutely LOVE what you doing here....... -
Thanks John, I will look forward to it....

Yeah, I would agree, Steve, and these days we use 'Trunions' which are the same thing only different... the way Danny has them mounted from the inside looks really good to me.... -

Danny, on the real deal there is a bracket that connects to the spring hanger, so I would say by the look of the part be glued to the outside of the center spring hanger, they are kind of like a torque rod.... -

IF by any remote chance you decide to print the drop neck, I would LOVE to buy a set from you....I honestly think there is a market for that conversion..... Jeff -

Ron, how are you planning the drop goose neck on the lowbed? Do you have 'plans' or are ou just going to wing it as you go along? -
I agree Phil, we also need a good 'newer' model of a road grader, the Plus Model kit is awesome , but something from the '50's early '60's would be amazingly good...

Yup, resting your hand on the stick was, when I was learning to drive, a BIG NO NO ! I have seen shifting forks worn so bad you could cut your steak with them.... we have a nick name for those kind of guys.... Super-Truckers and Yeah, when your back is sore from sitting in those seats pounding down the highway, some days there seems to be no relief from the agony......... I always liked the stick right beside my seat, and easy to reach...... -
