  1. Glue, lots of it. Well, glue and cement really. I've been looking for a good PVA glue and I heard good things about ZAP Formula 560 so I thought I'd give it a try. I also bought some of the old Plastruct Plastic weld because I mistakenly thought the big Andy's Sherman may have had some ABS parts....I'm sure I'll find a use for it. Most importantly, I purchased seven bottles of Tamiya's Extra thin Quick Setting after noticing that it was back ordered on a few sites. A panic purchase? Well, you might say....perhaps. Hobbylinc had it on sale at $ 3.84 for the quick setting. Have you seen the ridiculous prices for this stuff on Amazon? Jeez!!
  2. I have a couple of the Trumpy Wildcats......love the Wildcat but I was a bit worried about building them. Thanks for pointing out these issues.
  3. Lovely, I mean Jeez, great deal! I got to get one of those terrific Tamiya Spits!
  4. Great looking cockpit Peter!
  5. Coming today..... From Takom, in 1/16 scale, is their Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen 1 Sd.Kfz.265 3 in 1. An interesting little tank. A radio equipped commander vehicle, it must have been highly vulnerable with just the one machine gun... Offered in three versions in the kit; one having the big external antenna as seen on the box art. I saw archive footage of a bunch of these radio tanks parading around on a field in pre-war Germany the other night....I also saw these in archival footage of the invasion of France. Wnat we need now is a 1/16 Char B1 bis tank.....Man! I'd like to see that! Anyway, looks like a cool kit.
  6. Looks like a cool project....will be watching.
  7. Hey, I just bought one of these myself! Will be watching...and I'm sure I'll hope to profit from your experiences!
  8. And....they rarely do things well. I'm not sure why things are held in customs so long.....didn't have this problem last year.
  9. Cool build! Interesting subject....NICE WORK!
  10. Great to see....always liked the A-6..and was curious about the Trumpeter kit. Nice work and I'll be watching.
  11. I should have checked with you.
  12. Let me know what you find!
  13. The two nearest Ace Hardware stores sell Tamiya kits in their "hobby" section along with Mission Models paint, Tamiya paint( acrylic and lacquer in spray cans) and Revell enamel paint....I'm pretty sure this is the case in most Ace hardware stores.
  14. A suprise purchase and gift from Mom today! After looking at the model kits on display at Ace Hardware I was suprised to see this in her cart when we met after check out. I was very thankful..... Anyway, its Tamiya's Lockheed P-38 F/G Lightning (61120). In 1/48. I've been tempted by this kit for some time......heard good things about it. I'm a big fan of the P-38....especially the ones with the early style cowls. A cool day for me and Mom. We had lunch together afterwards.
  15. This came today; from BNA, in Australia..... Great people btw. Just a few days in transit...impressive.... But a week in Customs in Chicago....and a day later after a delivery "attempt" by USPS.....no big deal a 10 minute round trip to the post office in Waukegan. By Takom, it's their WW 1 Heavy Tank MK V (2034) 3 in 1. This kit can be built as Male, Female, or "hermaphrodite" configurations. Pretty cool. Lots of marking options; including a checker board option that would result in my opinion...in total mental collapse. A cool kit!
  16. These came today: From ABER ; their 16 L-01 U.S. cal .30 barrel for machine gun Browning M-1919 A4 in 1/16 scale. I'm going to use this on the Andy's Hobby Headquarters 1/16 Sherman I got recently. Another item is this paint masking pen from Molotow. Never tried one of these before.....this one has the 2mm tip and is refillable. Last, but by no means least, is this 1/16 scale 1/4 ton 4x4 G503 MB utility truck by Takom. I had been thinking about getting this one for some time....and finally got one. Although in 1/16 scale it's not a big model. It's got lots of detail though....A complete engine, detailed chassis, and a well detailed .50 Browning M2. A figure is also included. It looks like a fun kit....and it should make a cool companion piece to the big "Easy Eight"
  17. Interesting.... Where's the rest of the aircraft? No, seriously... Will be watching!
  18. Nice work Sasha on a little covered subject..... Interesting.
  19. Really cool! Love it! The wreck of the Nautalius, great idea.
  20. WIP please. I have several Trumpy T34 1/16 kits and I'd love to see some PE soldering. Those Tamiya 1/32 aircraft kits are very tempting......my fear is screwing one up! I'd love to build their early A6m2.....cool that! But a NMF mustang! Oh, jeez how cool would that be!
  21. The tanks marking options are from the time after the time US got into Germany ,at least the marking options included shown on the box. The Tamiya European theater Easy eight also includes the T66 tracks. Adopted dec. 1944 .Thanks for the heads up about the kit being made from styrene BTW........I heard about some parts being made of ABS from a goofy You Tuber I'm glad its not true.
  22. Surprisingly, the parts count (excluding the tracks) is not that large.....like an up-sized 1/35 kit. There is some detail I've never seen on an Easy Eight......I never knew, for instance, that these tanks had a pair of rear view mirrors....these are included on this kit. Most photos show that they were removed. Anyway, it's a good thing I have a lot of Tamiya olive drab. I'm concerned that some parts may be made from ABS......meaning Extra thin might not be enough. Anyway, I Emailed Andy's Hobby Headquarters to see if this is the case. Update: from the manufacturer.... All styrene.
  23. Yikes! Five years is too short a sentance.
  24. Sorry to hear of the decal issues. Have you tried Walther's Solvaset? Works great on decals.....on some decals it's perhaps a little too strong! I use it on Tamiya decals and even on those it works well. https://spruebrothers.com/search-results-page?q=Solvaset
