HELP!!!! Problem with decal.
belugawhaleman replied to CrankyCrafstman's topic in Modelling Discussion
You mean the decal paper? Just have a look on Amazon....... Choose the paper that will work with your printer Instructions can be found on the internet. I haven't bought any yet because of my printer issue. Some paper requires the use of a spray over the printed decals. Kits for making decals are available........Oh, that question was for Martin. -
HELP!!!! Problem with decal.
belugawhaleman replied to CrankyCrafstman's topic in Modelling Discussion
Yikes! You should ask the seller to compensate you.....if it was an Ebay purchase file a complaint. Anyway try the links i gave you Peddinghaus in particular, they may have that. Or try to get in touch with Trumpeter......they have a Facebook page. I think they are handled by Stevens International.... Try them. This past year I got some replacement parts ..decals and an entire sprue.from Takom. Or you can scan Martin's Image and make a decal from that. I've been considering makeing some decals using my Mom's laser printer.....they sell the needed decal paper on Amazon. I just couldn't get my tablet to work with her printer...but I'm working on it. I think, however, if you paid for a complete kit you should have gotten it! Saying that I think you should take it up with the seller. I know there are.....Silly.....bans on putting swastikas and the like on models in Europe but this is ridiculous! info@stevenshobby.com -
I remember trying out a neighbor's monkey back in the 70's. I had a Yamaha YZ-80 back then. Tamiya had a 1/6 scale model of the early monkey...they reintroduced it a while back as a " fortieth anniversary" boxing....would be an interesting build.

Yes, I think it will be fun to make this little monkey. It will require a different skill-set from military models...and different paints. Some of these paints only available in Tamiya's spray lacquers.....Camel yellow for instance. I may buy the spray cans and decant the paint from them to use in my airbrush. I know the red metallic lacquer can be purchased in bottles from Tamiya.... In this case I'm looking for the Tamiya lacquer thinner that has the retarder in it....can't find it in stock anywhere. A question... Can mr. Leveling thinner be used with Tamiya lacquer paint? I'm not sure if Tamiya makes an Acrylic red metallic paint...I'll have to see. The instructions of the kit tells you how to simulate the anodized finish on the forks of the motorcycle.... Interesting. Can't wait to see your take on this kit....I'm sure yours will be great! Paul.

HELP!!!! Problem with decal.

Can you post an image of the defaced decals? With the exception of small DAK emblems, I don't recall seeing Swastikas on ww2 german armor....except on tanks used by Finland... I believe their swastikas were reversed. -

This company makes decals for 1/16 German tanks. Otherwise try Elite Armour ebay srore or contact Trumpeter customer service. https://www.peddinghaus-decals.de/ https://www.ebay.com/str/elitearmorproductions -
Some more stuff today....... From Sprue Brothers ; another Tamiya kit of an unusual subject, their SIMCA 5 Staff Car German Army (35321). The kit looks good , being very well-molded and well engineered, as you would expect from Tamiya, but tiny! Some of the parts are very delicately molded, especially the suspension bits. It should be a quick build. Options include a civilian version. The SIMCA was a French licensed version of the FIAT 500 "Topolino". Interestingly, in small print, it says on the box; " Manufactured under licence from Peugeot". It's hard to imagine German troops driving around in these tiny cars. Also coming today two 23ml bottles of Tamiya acrylic paint ....XF-20 and XF-65. Good stuff.

Very nice work on an interesting warbird! Well done! -
Something a little different came today from Tower Hobbies. Yes, It's a Tamiya kit, but not in 1/35 and not an armor subject. It's their Honda Monkey-125 (14134) in 1/12 scale. I saw it while browsing on Tower Hobbies; it was relatively cheap at $ 30.00 with my rewards discount, and I thought it would make a fun project. It looks like a nice little kit. Also from Master Model came a barrel set for my recently purchased Takom M3 Lee. It's their, Model M3 Lee/Grant 75mm M2 L/31 Short & 37mm M6 gun Barrels (TAK kit) (MASGM35030). Looks good. Other items coming today; a metric miniature drill bit set and two bottles of Tamiya acrylic paint....XF-49 (23ml) Khaki.

What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)

Man alive! That looks good! Beautiful metal finish. -
Hey, looking forward to your build! I have a bunch of 1/16 kits including three Trumpeter T-34's and their big SU-100. I would like to start one.....but honestly, my "work bench"... (a modestly sized table) Really isn't big enough. Last year i built a Trumpeter 1/16 T-72, but I kind of gave up on it......Really it just needs painting to be finished... Perhaps your build will give me the motivation to finish it.

Looks like a nice little kit.....and I'm going to be following! -
Nothing exciting today...........just paint. Some Tamiya Acrylics. Some odd colors including hull red, sky, and cockpit green as used on the French tank models I'll be building. I also bought flat black, buff and some of Tamiya's excellent x-22 clear. I forgot to buy khaki ! I'll have to order some this week.

Bought some POSCA markers....two sets, both black in two tip sizes.
-
Bought some POSCA paint marker pens...they came today. I purchased two sets of three markers..... One set in Ultra fine, writing a .7mm line and the other three producing lines from .9 to 1.3mm. I plan to use these for the two French tank models I got recently....both having the black- lined color demarcation camouflage that the French used. We'll see how that works out.

Thanks, Hubert I'll have a look at those.

Delivered today via Amazon two kits from Tamiya. First, Tamiya's Jagdpanther IV/70 (V) LANG (Sd. Kfz. 162/1) (35340). Despite getting this kit for $20.00 cheaper than for what it usually goes for, and with free shipping.... I was unhappy with the delivery..... The box was shipped in just a plastic bag!. Anyway, I've been eyeing this kit for a while....I like the looks of this low to the ground, mean-looking fighting vehicle. Kind of reminding me of a malevolent Dachshund. Also today came Tamiya's British 10 HP light Utility Car "Tilly" (35308) . I thought it might be a fun build. Looks like a nice little kit.....Something different anyway. Yesterday came from Tamiya a detail set for for the Jagdpanzer IV (v) lang. # 12660 . It consists of a metal gun barrel and some parts for a more detailed breach for the gun...a useful, but not absolutely necessary addition to the kit.

Can anybody recommend a brand of paint markers that they've used? I need a good black paint marker to paint the demarcation lines seen between the colors on French camouflaged tanks that I have recently purchased and on some large-scale FT Renault tanks I have. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking on Amazon and there are so many offered that my head is damn near to exploding....I would think that something with acrylic paint might be best....or anything compatible with the Tamiya acrylics I normally use.Tell me what you have used...or suggest using. Thanks; Paul.

Fortunately, I've had good luck with Hobby Easy my items arrived in good boxes and packaged well. But admittedly, they were small items and could be sent without making boxes from scrap pieces. Sorry to hear of your trouble. Looks like a good selection of items you got there. I'm interested in one of those P40's.
