  1. Aah, ...Yes, right....but regret comes sooo easily...at my age!
  2. Like I said, ...I ordered the new Tamiya A34 Comet from Hobbyeasy in Hong Kong where it's been available for a month now @ $31.00 USD. Anyway, for anyone interested, here's Hobbyeasy's location on Google instant street view!
  3. Too bad she wasn't helping me look for that Sherman tail light I lost a while back......although,..I don't think I would have been concentrating on the carpet that much....Anyway, again I'm so old,..... lonely.... So many missed opportunities.... Arrrg!
  4. Thanks, just ordered a Comet from Hobbyeasy Hk for $31.00 U.S. and $20 shipping. I think that's not too bad.......usually orders take about a week to get here.
  5. Been watching... And enjoying your build. I'm considering purchasing the same kit... or Tamiya's 1/48 Spitfire , change from my usual armor kits.....would you recommend the kit? How's the fit? Thanks Paul
  6. Some items from Amazon and elsewhere came yesterday. First a Tamiya kit; their Citroen Traction 11CV staff car. As seen in JeroenPeters excellent build paired with his BF 108. I found this for a good price on Amazon. It will probably be the last kit I buy for a while untill the Tamiya A34 Comet kit is available. Also from Amazon came a set of 200 one ounce plastic cups with lids.....these are handy for mixing and temporarily storing paint and are disposable.... So no clean up. I also found a set of glass eye-droppers 20 of them in straight and bent-nose configuration (10 each)....very useful. Easy to clean.. Just remove the rubber bulb and soak in lacquer thinner or Simple green for Tamiya Acrylic paints. I got these for much cheaper than I've been buying them from McMaster-carr.......they're not as nice, but they'll do. I also managed to find some some Tamiya xf-55 deck tan...two bottles. Does anyone know why this is so hard to find?.....Out of stock everywhere. I ordered this online from King's in Texas....their last...now out of stock there. These will probably be the last items I'll post in this topic for some time.
  7. We also had a pinball machine......I don't remember who made it....It had a Paris street scene on the glass.
  8. Had a Mills nickle slot machine in our house growing up....it's now at my sister's home. It was fun, built like a tank, and very heavy.....funny, never thought about the legality of the thing.....I wonder what Illinois law was at the time?
  9. No.....at least it doesn't work for me..
  10. May be good news to some......
  11. Got pictures?
  12. Most new tamiya releases have link & length tracks that are very nice...in fact the rubber band tracks are pretty good these days and are completely acceptable in my Opinion. I like Tamiya kits and will continue to buy them. There's never any issues with Fit, the engineering is excellent, and they have great instructions. The Meng kit I built... The Char 2 had Individual links that hardly fit the vehicle and kept coming apart....making the kit almost unbuildable! I've considered buying Dragon kits but, I think they are way overpriced. The one kit I have of theirs (Saladin) has errors in the instructions, and lousy painting and decal placement instructions. I purchased the tracks featured in my post as a whim...not that I believed them necessary to build an otherwise very nice kit. Also I prefer to buy Tamiya kits because I'd rather not buy Chinese at the moment. If I have to.... I'll buy Takom....I enjoy their kits, their prices make sense at least. I just can't feature paying $80.00 for a 1/35 scale kit...a small one...no. matter how Nice the tracks are..and find myself with crappy intructions and bad fit. There are a several Tamiya kits that have individual track links that are workable; their Char 1bis, their MK IV, their Somua, their red army Matilda, , and all are excellent kits. Again , most have link & length tracks. Thank Paul
  13. These came Today; From T-REX Studio, a set of 3-D printed tracks. Their Panzer PZ.Kpfw III/IV Tracks type 7. (TRXTR85028) in 1/35. I'll be using these on my Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV/70 Lang to replace the kit's tracks. They look pretty good. Each track link is connected to another using two resin pins. These, however, look very fragile. Some link fragments can be seen within the, as yet, unopened bag....Not sure that bodes well for assembly. The track links themselves look very detailed and crisply molded. We'll see how well they assemble when the time comes.
  14. I know I'll never be able finish the ones I have...........but certainly, when I die I I'm not going to know anyway.....or be in a position to care.
  15. Seriously now, I'm guilty of the same thing, whatever it's called. I currently have three builds that I have temporarily "abandoned" simply because I viewed them as being no longer fun.....they had become more of a chore than pleasant pastime. I think what you're concerned about is perfectly normal..... Whatever you do, it's your choice, enjoy your hobby and don't let it worry you. I know, I might not be setting the best example,..... I buy a new model every week, but for me, collecting kits is an enjoyable part of the hobby . I know I'll eventually build my "abandoned" kits. I don't see this hobby as being restrained by timelines to follow.
  16. Not sure, but perhaps I'll call it ..........Shirley?.... My brain hurts......Are those my feet?
  17. Nice! Looks great.....I'm also a big fan of the 'T-6, I built a few of them, including a South African example, using the old Monogram 1/48 kit....years back!
  18. That's a shame, the Catalina's a cool aircraft. It deserves an accurate representation in scale form...I doesn't seem that'll ever happen in large-scale injection model form..... I'll be watching youre efforts. Thanks; Paul
  19. Looks like a fun kit. That's cool. I'm looking forward to working on a camouflaged subject (after the M51 I'm working on)......might be a Steyr 1500 or a Jagdpanzer ..who knows? I think I'm done..,for now, with my Tamiya buying streak, or as I might call it, "Mr. Toad's wild run".. and will start building! Paul.
  20. A set of decals today; From STAR DECALS their 35-C 1349 French Fighting Vehicles In Africa This set has markings for the SOMUA S 35 including both Vichy, and Free French tanks. An interesting set.....For the Tamiya kit.
  21. Wow! That's a huge difference!
  22. What exactly, is the group build for, .... amphibious things? I think the Tamiya "Gama Goat" I just purchased was...allegedly.. meant to be an amphibious vehicle, but wasn't very good at that, or most other things. Could it be included in this group build?
  23. I haven't seen that kit for sale-anywhere- for a long time......I didn't know there was a problem with the tail.. Too fat? What exactly?
