More items this week: First, another Tamiya kit; their U.S. Tank Destroyer M18 Hellcat (35376). I've heard a lot of good things about this kit and it looks great. Very detailed! It has link & length tracks, detailed suspension, and some very realistic rendering of the fabric cover for the gun mantlet. Looks like really nice kit. I also got a couple of barrels from Aber: 1). Russian 76,mm F-32 tank barrel for KV-1 early model 1941(35 L-43) Tamiya 2). German 105mm L/28 barrel with muzzle brake for LeFH 18M/2 & Wespe Sd.kfz.124 for my Tamiya Wespe kit.

Great set of items Rob! I have the Tamiya pointed cutters.....I like them, I prefer them to my Trumpeter single blade cutter, which, although sharp, never cuts flush. It always leaves a wedge shaped nub on the part. Hate it! The tweezer handle scissors look like A future purchase for me as the scissors I use currently for decals is a clumsy thing.

There's been a lot of talk about the wing profile but I understand that the actual wing shape was a bit different. It was called a Davis wing if I remember correctly. Anyway, nice work Carl. I'd like to tackle that beast......if I had a spare bedroom to put it in...that is! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davis_wing -
Today items I ordered from Hobby Easy in Hong Kong arrived. Two Tamiya products. First their German Steyr type 1500A Kommandeurwagen S.gl. Pkw Steyr type 1500A. (35235). In 1/35. This version in not easy to find in 1/35 scale. It's an odd looking vehicle, but I like it and it's a nice little kit. I also got Tamiya's accessory kit for their 2 1/2 ton 6x6 U.S. cargo truck. (MM 231). It includes a ring-type mount for the M2 machine gun, M2 machine gun, jerry can holders with cans, ammunition boxes, side curtains, folded top, road signs, and even includes a 1/35 scale puppy! Also a hard to find item......although Kitlinx claims to have one in stock.......or do they?. Anyway, like I said, a small order, but I've been looking for these items to a while and I'm happy to have found them. Shipping at $ 15.00 U.S. was high, but total cost was cheap compared to sourcing them elsewhere. My 1/35 Steyr was purchased for about 1/2 the cost of what the Tamiya 1/48 scale versions are sold on U.S. websites. The Accessory set was about a third the cost of what I've seen elsewhere.

Items arrived from Hobby easy today! It wasn't a big order, but of an order of hard to find items. Both Tamiya. The shipping time was 16 days and I'm pleased! I will post items in the What did you just get? Thread.

Did I hear that correctly? 150+ Wingnut kits!!!!??
-
Update!!! I just counted my stash......I actually have more like 70 kits! Thank God! I thought I had a Problem!😀
-
I'm afraid to count the kits in my stash, honestly........ Must be upwards of 90-100!

No, nothing definite in tracking. USPS says they're waiting for the package but they must have it. Lately , I've found that tracking from Things shipped from California doesn't Update until they are practically delivered and that's were it last was. Anyway, it'll get here eventually. Now if it were UPS................. Update: It's in Carol Stream, Illinois at a Shipping partner waiting for transfer to USPS....so within a day or so.

From Tower Hobbies came yet another kit; This one from Tamiya. It's their Russian Heavy Tank KV-1 1941 Early Production (35372) Looks like a nice kit, and it's BIG! Yes, like their JSU-152 I got earlier, this was a large beast of a tank. This is not Tamiya's ancient KV-1 model but a recent tooling featuring Link & Length tracks and some very realistic surface texture on the metal plates.

I haven't used the Flory washes, but I had a tube of that putty. The putty worked out OK the first time I used it but I found it had hardened in the tube even though it was sealed the next time I went to use it......don't know why.
-
Again, another one from Tamiya; This kit is getting hard to find in stock, so when I saw it on the Burbank's House of Hobbies site I bought it right away. It's Tamiya's Marder III M "Normandy Front" (35364). Another Marder based on the 38(t) chassis. Another nice little kit of a small vehicle. This time using a PAK 40 gun. I also have the Aber barrel for this one. (35 L-05n). I'm still waiting for my stuff from Hobby easy to come, but this will probably be last Of my Tamiya run for awhile, there's a big 1/16 Sherman I'm going to save for. Also A Takom jeep in 1/16 I'd like.

Great job on the camouflage! The work you put into preparing the masks was well worth it! -

I have a stash of silly putty I bought for that purpose! I bought it before I knew the AK product existed. I've had it for a few years now.......I wonder, does Silly Putty go bad? -

I spent the early hours hand painting the tires of a Stuart tank.....and I thought that was a chore! But Holy Cow! What kind of a trailer is that? -
Interesting. I didn't know the 108 had folding wings!

Trumpeter SBD-5 RNZAF up
belugawhaleman replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Good work John on another one of my favorites! I remember seeing an account of an incident during the war of one of these planes being jumped by I believe Three Zeros. The SBD shot down one of these planes and if I remember correctly rammed another. Anyway, the SBD managed to survive the encounter. I think the program was the History Channel's Dog fights. Keep up the good work, I'll be watching! That's a kit I'd love to build, by the way. -
Always thought foiling a model would be cool and was an interesting process. Glad to see you're taking this project on and your progress has been great so far. Will be following!

Sad news. I always preferred the original series and will always watch an episode when I see its on tv......even though I've seen every episode about a thousand times.

Just about every summer, we get a story on the local (Chicago) news about someone finding a bat on their driveway with a warning about rabies and the like. It seems ludicrous as there is a greater likelihood of being shot in Chicago than getting rabies from a bat! Especially considering the mayor, Lori Lightfoot presides over one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. (if not the WORLD) and her relationship with the police of that city is not in the least bit cooperative!
-
Around here bats are said to carry rabies! Best not to handle them. Anyway, cool to see.
