  1. Can anybody recommend a brand of paint markers that they've used? I need a good black paint marker to paint the demarcation lines seen between the colors on French camouflaged tanks that I have recently purchased and on some large-scale FT Renault tanks I have. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking on Amazon and there are so many offered that my head is damn near to exploding....I would think that something with acrylic paint might be best....or anything compatible with the Tamiya acrylics I normally use.Tell me what you have used...or suggest using. Thanks; Paul.
  2. Fortunately, I've had good luck with Hobby Easy my items arrived in good boxes and packaged well. But admittedly, they were small items and could be sent without making boxes from scrap pieces. Sorry to hear of your trouble. Looks like a good selection of items you got there. I'm interested in one of those P40's.
  3. I share your interest, and would also ask Martin why Zvezda ?
  4. An Amazon purchase, this came today. Tamiya's Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf. A/B/C (Sd.Kfz.121) (French Campaign). A 2008 release, it has Link & Length tracks, some photo-etch, a figure, and markings for four vehicles. It can be built as 4 variations. It has armored pieces that are added to the hull to produce the up-armored variant of the Panzer II. A very small model is inside the box!
  5. Decided to call it done. Finished in Soviet service markings.
  6. My other interests include collecting live steam models and other small engines Here is my Cranko "mogul" live steam locomotive in O gauge. Heated by a four-wick alcohol burner and powered by two single-acting oscillating cylinders, this little 2-6-0 loco is a really good runner. It was made in New Zealand in the early 1950's They are not easily found in the U.S.
  7. Today, arriving earlier than expected from Scale Hobbyist came another Tamiya kit. This time their SOMUA S35. (35344) And it looks like a great kit! With this kit the tracks aren't the expected Link & Length, but are individual link workable tracks. Each link is tiny....102 per each side. I heard from some reviews that they can be easily damaged while "clicking" together and the way the instructions tell you to do it isn't the best way of doing it. The kit also includes some metal chain and three marking options.....all weirdly French. I noticed only the turret has the French style black lines between the colors. The hull, turret, and other pieces have a very nice cast metal texture. I was surprised that the size of this tank....it looks to be about the same size as a Sherman. SOMUA is the acronym for Société d'Outillage Mécanique et d'Usinage d'Artillerie. I found out that the German forces used about 300 0f these tanks.
  8. Got this decal sheet from STAR DECALS today. It's their 35-C 1215 German Tanks In Norway and Finland III The decal options are all for the French SOMUA tank in German service. I have a SOMUA s 35 kit on the way and I thought this would provide some interesting options. I had no idea that the Germans used captured French tanks outside of France. I really don't know much about the German campaigns in Norway and Finland..... I guess I have some reading to do.
  9. Thanks Rob, It was really an isolated incident.
  10. Thanks, yes I see a doctor regularly. What happened probably was my own fault. After taking a dose of insulin earlier, I then took a walk around the block a few times to help bring down blood sugar....it was high after having a meal at Mom's. I miscalculated the degree to which the exercise would work with the insulin to bring down my blood sugar. Lately I've been using excercise alone to regulate blood sugar..using smaller doses of insulin when needed .
  11. Things look a bit better...after the flat coat. Almost done. Sorry about the pics.... Bad lighting. I think it turned out OK after all.
  12. Things not looking too good today.....a series of disasters.. Had trouble with the tracks.. They broke in several places as I put them back on the tank. I got them on in the end, but the repairs don't look good. Now trouble with the decals. I'm not going to be able to use the set I wanted to. I ruined one of them.
  13. My comments, my browsing history. BTW.
  14. Where on earth are 3-d printed toilets available for purchase?! Anyway, love the idea of Russians looting toilets! And yes, I agree, the R35......definitely cute!
  15. Having just purchased the Tamiya r35 tank....I had to share this video from YouTube. When the Germans first saw these things.....they must have laughed like Hell!
  16. I have built the b1 bis but due to my move last year never finished it. It was damaged during the move. I plan to repurchase the kit when I can find it at a decent price. I lost a bunch of the track links as well. I also have the Tamiya Somua on order. I've been thinking of buying a set of paint markers
  17. Well, yet another kit from Tamiya came today. Wasn't happy with the delivery though, the package was delivered damaged.... No serious damage to its contents, however, just some minor creases on the box top. It's Tamiya's French Light Tank R35 (35373). I wasn't even aware that Tamiya made this kit. It looks good, with link & length tracks, a nice figure, and nice texturing of the cast areas of the hull and turret. It is very small, however as the real tank was tiny . The big challenge will be painting this thing, as the French camouflage schemes were a bit complicated with their black- outlined, hard- edged designs.
  18. Nice! Glad to hear the kits go together well. Thanks.
  19. Holy Cow! And that's in 1/48 scale?
  20. Nice work! And I like the interesting subject.....cool aircraft!
  21. From Hobby Easy in Hong Kong to my home in less than a week. This came today; it's Takom's M3 Lee, early (03.01.2085) in 1/35. Released in 2017, I've been looking for this one for awhile..... Always out of stock. I always liked the M3 Lee's anachronistic looks....looking out of date the day it first rolled off the assembly line. Anyway, after reading some of the reviews, this one might not be the effortless build that most Tamiya kits are.....We'll see.
  22. My total aftermarket stash fits in a small box in my model closet. My decals, in a large zip-lock bag. I don't really buy THAT much aftermarket. Aber barrels go into the kit boxes.
