  1. From Amazon, came another Tamiya kit. This time their French Battle Tank B1 bis (35282). I purchased this same kit a while back but the partially built model was damaged during moving and some of its parts lost. I was determined to purchase another if I could find it at a good price. I did. I found a seller on Amazon selling it at about $20.00 cheaper than my usual sources....and shipping was free..so, a pretty good deal. It's a nice kit....and it has individual working track links. Being a French inter-war tank, it has the usual weirdness to make it an interesting subject. I now have three Tamiya kits of French tanks, a few big Takom Ft-17s, and a Takom St Chamond to build. Most of these have paint schemes that are a little challenging. I also intend to get the Schneider tank by Hobby Boss , that's if I can find that one at a decent price.....the lowest I've seen is $49.00 for that one. Anyway, I'm glad I found this one.
  2. Haven't got it yet......who knows when it will be available ...but a WIP seems likely! Academy and Hobby fan both released versions in 1/35 but neither seem to be available anymore.
  3. Another ....."What I'll get" ...when available. This big 1/16 ONTOS by Takom.
  4. I use small dental brushes and they seem not to be damaged by the Tamiya airbrush cleaner or lacquer thinner. I've been using the same brush for multiple cleanings. I'll have to look to see what brand they are. They are Sunstar G.U.M brand....the green ones. Since I posted this, I found that these are available in different sizes....they are color coded. I've just purchased some red...or moderate size of these brushes. These will be better for my Eclipse airbrushes and my Paasche H airbrushes.
  5. Yes, you're probably right...but darn annoying!
  6. I'd like to do one of the HK Meteor kits myself....like the looks of that 'plane. The customs thing...is that recent? I purchased 3 items from Hobby Easy before without any customs problems.... The last two, well, I had delays. Well, honestly, my delay was about a week.. not so bad....but what has changed from before?
  7. Two weeks! I got off easy, I guess , with my Hobby Easy shipment. Anyway, I hope you post your conversion when the time comes around
  8. From Burbank's House of Hobbies came this kit from Copper State Models; Their French AC Mod. 1914 (Type ED) csm 35013. I've been wanting this one fo a while and found this one at Burbank's for a decent price. Built on a Renault chassis, and armed with its St. Etienne M1907 mg , I like the clean lines of this vehicle.....kind of reminds me of the later U.S. M3 scout car. The gun was a bit of a arcane marvel.....using a blow-forward gas piston and transmitting rearward motion to the bolt using a rack and pinion system and cam track on the bolt. Also, it was fed by metal feed strips like the 1914 Hotchkiss. There's an interesting video on YouTube on a channel called Forgotten Weapons about this gun. Anyway, being a CSM kit, It's pretty good.
  9. Yes, that's where I saw it.
  10. Nice work so far. The yellow on the minisub does look great. I've never seen one of tne Seaview kits built up so I'm following your build......I didn't know these kits were, well,......huge.!
  11. Not what I just got, but what I Will get when it's available. A new WW I subject from Miniart......an armored truck. I like the look of this thing.
  12. Pictures like this, while very nice, just serve to remind me that I am now an old Belugawhaleman and that I'll never witness such a delightful scene while walking a dog. I'll just have one of those plastic bags on my hand to pick up the poop.
  13. No, only the newest kits. I want to buy their M40 and the Sheridan then that'll do it. Then, I'll move on to their aircraft kits😀
  14. A couple of kits showed today: First, a kit from Miniart, their Tempo E400 Hochlader Pritsche 3-Wheel Truck. I've been aware of these kits before and I finally decided to get one after seeing one of these odd little vehicles in old archival footage of Germany early post war. The kit looks great, with lots of detail including; a complete engine, cab interior, and suspension.... Cool! Second; My order from Hobby easy HK came after languishing in customs since December 29. From Takom, it's their M3A1 Lee (2114). This is the version with the cast upper hull, giving an already strange-looking tank a weird..almost organic....look. This kit, like many Takom kits, is hard to find in stock.....anywhere. Glad I found one!
  15. I'm also interested in doing the Takom Apache .......been a long time since I made a 'copter. I last did a Huey on break from college in the '80s
  16. Welcome...hope to see more of your posts! I'm also a LSP member ...I browse there , but don't post there. Recently, I accidentally deleted from memory all my saved passwords.. all 67 of them. When I tried to recover my password from them they wouldn't reply.... I assumed I was banned... but it turned out I registered under a different email. No My only posts there were about a dishonest merchant -Internet Hobbies-and some paint questions. Glad to see you're here.
  17. I'm Paul, not Phil
  18. Something a little different..... While still Tamiya, this time it's not in 1/35, It's 1/24 and it's not a tank. It's Tamiya's Toyoda Model AA Sedan (24339). This was Toyota's first passenger car released in 1936 and, yes, it was spelled with a D back then. This kit came out in 2015. I wanted to try something different... A car...and something about this kit appealed to me. The kit is larger than I expected, has "chromed" parts, rubber tires, a photo-etch hood ornament, and what appear to be Metallic decals for trim.....I've never seen that before, interesting. There are two color options...black, and a light brown. I think the gloss should be toned down a bit for a car of this era..something between a semi-gloss and a gloss. Not sure how I'll do this, perhaps adding a little semi-gloss clear lacquer to the mix. We'll see. The light brown requires mixing a 4:1 ratio of gloss white and brown. Anyway, I think it will be a nice build. Also, some supplies came today; some MRP lacquer...... SCC No.15 Olive Drab for The Tamiya A34 Comet kit I got recently, some LP-9 Clear Gloss lacquer and more Airbrush cleaner from Tamiya. Oh, I just found out, Tamiya has a flat base for their lacquer paints like they do for their Acrylics..it's LP-22.
  19. I always wanted this kit.....I didn't know about the '93 reissue. Will be watching!
  20. This will be interesting!
  21. Great subject for your build....watching this!
  22. More paint this week, mostly Tamiya lacquers. I got their: Dark Iron,Nato Black, Silver, and most importantly, Gloss white and Pure Metallic Red. The Red and White will be used to paint that 1/12 Tamiya Honda Monkey 125 that I got a while back. Also, I got a bottle of Tamiya acrylic Buff and some #11 blades. The blades are something I got from Amazon, NicPro brand..I bought some paint brushes made by the same brand and they are OK.
  23. Not so bad today...in the forties f. Much better than the weekend. It was brutally cold. Hope it keeps up as the heater fan in my car has died...I have the part..blower motor resistor.. Just no chance to swap it out..lately.
