  1. That's one good-looking Shooting Star John!
  2. Got these today: From ABER, their Russian D-10T 100mm tank barrel for T-55 (35 L-07) and from StAR DECALS their 35-1338 Tanks & AFVs in CUBA 2 both for 1/35 scale. There is also a decal sheet from STAR that offers markings for pre- Soviet vehicles, mostly U.S, but also a British Comet tank. I may purchase that one as well as its pre-Castro apparently. My dad was born in Cuba, he would prefer that.
  3. Wow! The camouflage looks awesome! A stunning build!
  4. Fantastic build! I've got to get my hands on one of those kits! Looks massive.
  5. Well Harv, even though I've had the kit for only a little while, I would say I would recommend it. It is smaller than I thought and although lately, I've been having troubles with my eyesight, I don't think I'll have trouble building it. I'm currently using 2x magnified Glasses with led lights on them on my current build and it's in 1/16 scale! I find 1/35 scale models always look larger in their YouTube reviews! Anyway, I think its a pretty cool model and as always, I like unusual subjects.
  6. Got this today: From Miniart, their 1/35 scale Avro 671 Rota MK.I RAF. I've been thinking about buying one of these autogyro kits for some time and, given current circumstances, I decided now was the time. Miniart offers French, German, and Spanish versions of this aircraft; both military and civilian. I was for either buying the French version or this one. I chose the Avro built one; liking its painting choices the best. This looks like a great kit and I'm looking forward to building it. I'm leaning towards building the version with the trainer yellow lower fuselage.
  7. Looks great! I recently purchased Trumpeter's BTR-80a. This is the version with the big auto - cannon on the turret. I've noted that a lot of the footage of burned-out vehicles of the war are these. Anyway, the Trumpeter kit looks like a good one. How was your kit build wise?
  8. Your work on this project is outstanding!
  9. Got to try that some time😀 The recipe: In a cocktail shaker, combine gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup; fill with ice, and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled Champagne flute or highball glass (partly filled with ice, if preferred). Top with sparkling wine until filled. Garnish with a lemon twist.
  10. Got some deliveries today: From Polish maker IBG Models I got their 75mm French Field Gun Mle 1897. Opening the box reveals a truly diminutive model; with tiny ,delicate-looking parts and sub- microscopic photo etch. Also included is a small decal sheet that has some of the tiniest stencils I've ever seen. I find it cool that the maker has bothered to include these! People will remember that Alfred Dreyfus was accused ,among other things, of revealing secrets regarding the development of this iconic gun. I also got today several bottles of Tamiya semi-gloss clear----this time from their acrylic offerings.
  11. Reading Hunger by Norwegian writer Knut Hamsun.
  12. Nice work on the planking Rob! I'm enjoying your thread on this build and I admiring Your work so far.
  13. Your work on the interior of that plane looks great! That looks like a very detailed kit of an aircraft I've always had an interest in.
  14. Looks like an interesting subject for a model. Always nice to see something out of the ordinary For a change!
  15. Thanks for the tip. I've been using Walthers Solvaset and it's pretty strong stuff so I'll test it first. I also used the Tamiya stuff, it seems an bit milder.
  16. Well, the Pledge/Future arrived today and I'm happy to report that it does not smell like perfume; instead, it smells like possibilities, puppies, the promise of successful modeling endeavors, and...........victory!. No, seriously, it just has a clean, slightly chemical smell. Sorry Hubert. Anyway, I now have a years (at least) supply of pre-decaling clear coat.
  17. Looking good Carl!
  18. I do that sometimes. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to Stalag 17 ! I watch, or rather, listen to it every time I find it on tv. It's the same with the original Star TrekTrek episodes.
  19. I too have been preoccupied with world events and no longer listen to music like I used to. So much of contemporary music is distasteful to me now. I now, when I'm driving, listen to a Chicago classical music station. The station my dad listened to. My father was really a fan, and expert on classical music. His knowledge on the subject was astounding. I now enjoy listening to it and listen to the station when I'm not listening to the news. Last night, while reading a book by Herman Hesse, the character in the book spoke about A composer named Buxtehude..... never heard of him. I looked him up. He was Dieterich Buxtehude, A composer from Denmark. I had Alexa play his music for A while before I went to bed. I'm finding that classical music is good stuff......but then Dad was right about A lot of things.
  20. I wish I had a Tamiya dedicated shelf!
  21. I remember now; about two years ago, my mother purchased for me as a gift a Takom's 1/6 ft17 ---the one with the Berliet or hexagonal turret. I was surprised as I haven't seen this version for sale anywhere since then. She got it for a good price I think.
  22. Looks like an interesting kit. I also have been building up a stash for the past few years; probably more than I'll ever finish, my output of finished models not being that many. I haven't tried Ebay yet. There are a lot of Takom models that are difficult to source and I've seen some of these listed on Ebay. The only Dragon kit I built was that big German bicycle I built a while back, I enjoyed that. I have a Dragon 1/16 figure to build that looks pretty good.
