Agree 100% Carl. They look good but can be a PITA to apply. 🤪

Coming along nicely Rob. Quite a enjoyable kit to build. Like Carl said, you can never have too many Corsairs! LOL

Thank you Harv. Needless to say I was sweating this out!

Success! No peel offs! I will paint the underside next but I'm pleased with the paint so far. After I have all the GSB on I'll overspray with a clear gloss to give the paint a more even finish, etc.

It looks like the problem is solved (fingers crossed) with the wipedown with Alclad airbrush cleaner and the application of Alclad white primer and basecoat. There was no paint peel off on the wing tip tanks. I have my toes crossed too that all will be well with the rest of the model. I will know soon as I plan to mask off the silver (CoroGuard) leading edges and apply the GSB. Please excuse the crappy photo!

I will be referring to the info from you and Gaz whenever I decide to build mine. I remember that model magazine and still have some copies somewhere.🙄

Thanks. Mine are also.

Me too Peter. I did some test painting to see if any paint would come off when removing masking tape and had poor results. I rubbed it down with Alclad airbrush cleaner (which will remove darn near anything) and sprayed it with Alclad White Primer and Basecoat. I'll let it sit overnight and try again tomorrow. I was afraid there would be a problem with the paint peeling off when removing masking tape and sure enough there was. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. 🙄

I guess I was lucky as there were next to none on my kit, just the big gaps.

Glad to help guys.

Scott, Take a look at the blade dispenser. Does it say Item #23021 or Item #23011? I ordered some blades recently and I thought I was ordering #11's which have Item # 23011. When I got the blades I put one in my knife and it wouldn't trim anything with the tip but would cut further back on the blade. I tried another blade and it was the same. I checked the dispenser and it said Item #23021 which are not #11 blades but #21 blades. So, if you happen to have the 23021 blades they won't cut with the tip. Live and learn.

I agree Hubert. They could have been in worse places for sure. I wanted to model it as Brubaker's a/c in Toko-Ri but they were flying -5's and the kit is a -2 with a different shaped tail unit. If I could find someone with a -5 then I could possibly do his a/c.

Well maybe not quite perfect Peter but I'll go with it for sure.

I hope so Harv!

Thanks Martin. Strip plastic, white putty, epoxy and CA plus a lot of sanding and re-sanding. 🤪

I'm glad it was a help Carl. I should have known better than to leave that Scotch tape on there but I'm glad to have gotten it cleaned up.

Welcome to LSM.

I hope so Peter. Fingers crossed.

Thank you Peter. I'm in the process of filling in the wing/fuselage gaps using thin strip plastic and white putty. I found that my Miliput had dried out. I don't want to kill time waiting for some to be sent. The strips glued in with CA then covered with putty seems to be working okay. The REAL fun part will be having to re-shape the forward wing to blend in with the fuselage. 🤪

Looks to be similar to Miliput. Luckily I have some of that and will give it a try. Thank you!

Status as of now. Wings attached using CA gel and epoxy resin. Dealing with those seams will likely be a large PITA.
