  1. Scott Nice work on the office and you did bring up a very intriguing thought: parts being juggled between different runs of the same kit when buying old kits. Never thought about it but it does make a lot of sense. I have to confess, there are days, I hit my studio to work. rarely leave and the PJ's are on all day. Of course, the comfort level is awesome.
  2. John Just seems getting the colors correct is almost the hardest part of a build these days. Just think back to the old days; we had Practra, Humbrol, Testors and then Model Master. Of course, with no internet for research, you believed what was in the instructions or if you were lucky, you actually had a book to reference. Now it's endless with everyone having the 'correct' answers and none match each other. Peter
  3. Thanks John I've been doing a lot of research all morning and I think the problem is ZM's instructions have too much green mixed in the printed colors. All my research shows the actual color scheme colors should be: RLM 76 Light Blue RLM 74 Dark Gray RLM 75 Gray I'm ditching the color callouts in the instructions which now seem to be wrong. And finally, as luck would have it, I have all the colors in my MRP Paint Stash!
  4. This is my first Bf 109 build and am finding ZM's color painting guide for Hartmann's aircraft somewhat confusing and not that correct as I keep researching the colors. The color callouts for the undersides are RLM 65 (research showed it should be RLM 76.) ZM intermixes the actual name for the blues as either Light Blue RLM 76 or Pale Blue RLM 65. Then moving on to the fuselage sides, it seems the background color is the lower wing color which should be RLM 76 and not RLM 65. Side mottling is going to be RLM74 & RLM 75, which are also the upper wing cammo colors. From what I've read, the classic Luftwaffe colors are RLM 74, 75 76 and I'm going to go with i - way too confusing. As a side note, in research all the colors, I couldn't believe how many different colors/hues of RLM 02 there are - it's almost as many as Olive Drab🧐 I'm getting ready to prime and do the final checking. I should have sorted this out much sooner but just assumed ZM's painting instructions would be as thorough and clear, as they looked good. Lots of stencil and decal placement information but I'm lost with the actual colors. I posted my question before finishing my research this morning and have gone back and edited my original questions. I'm pretty sure what really led me down the wrong path was the printed color guide in the instructions have too much green tint to them and throws off the actual colors especially for a newbie like me to Luftwaffe aircraft. Thank You
  5. Rob Looking so good and the figures add so much to the build nd the perfect complement to the weathering.
  6. Gaz Going to be a terrific build to follow and enjoy
  7. Martin Absolutely Beavers and twin Otters
  8. Looks good but I'm still pulling for #21
  9. Yup, the second one down is #21 but it's looks like John already picked #22
  10. Hi John Sure looks as if you're on a 109 roll for sure. of the four schemes, I'm voting for # 21, not that it carries any weight.
  11. Ernie Thanks you just saved me a cool $24 and will go with the Kotare as it's in the box.
  12. Kev Looking mighty good and glad you're tackling the Italeri kit; the only real game in town. I've always been a big fan of the Tigercat (grew up halfway between Grumman and Republic in the 50's & 60's) and was so excited when HPH announced their Tigercat. But after Brian started his on LSP which seems like decades ago, I decided not to purchase the kit as it was way over my head and nowhere close to being the type of kit I wanted to tackle. Still hoping someday, someone will issue one in 32nd scale that doesn't require the massive work Brian had to do on his. Since I've left LSP many, many years ago, I have no idea if Brian actually finished his.
  13. Arrived the past week and my planned purchases for this year are almost complete with just two more kits to be added and some AM as well. Dug this out of the stash to accompany the Skyraider.
  14. OMG, a Vindicator - way too much to ask for and if they do and if it takes another thirteen years, I'm sure I won't be around to enjoy the kit. Just being realistic, as being 75 and not in the best o health these days.
  15. Interesting thought for doing the night fighter version.
  16. Thanks Gaz Getting pretty excited about priming and hitting the paint booth now.
  17. Thanks Rob Finally starting to feel good about the build as with your Arizona, as the smaller parts and assemblies come together, she is starting to look like herself. Just feels good to have hopefully navigated all the roadblocks.
  18. Shasa WOW, simply beautiful work and your treatment of the black paint finish is spot on - looking so realistic. 🏆
  19. John Absolutely awesome - a perfect finish - air brush and decal work are simply stellar. One beautiful build.
  20. John Heading over to enjoy the completed build photographs. I'm still amazed at the speed you built the 190.
  21. Oliver Incredible work - just amazing. I wish I could understand how you look at photographs and then visualize how to recreate then in scale. No question, it's a very special gift.
  22. Ernie Nice progress on the Hurricane - hope you can buy Tamiya filler by the gallon can 😉 I still haven't opened up my kit which is sitting right next to the Kotare Spitfire - I'm hoping and waiting for Quinta cockpit sets for both in the not too distant future.
