  1. I'm getting closer to starting my Border Lancaster and decided the bomb load will be: the 4,000 lb Cookie and the SBC's (small bomb containers). I have hopefully determined the ordnance colors as Border does not have any color call out for parts and assemblies in the instructions. There are what seem to be metal straps that go around the SBC's and attach them to the bomb bay roof. In B&W photographs seem much lighter then the SBC but I have no idea of what that color is. Any help of the loadout colors would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
  2. Looking mighty good ... no better way to display a finished build as it shows time and place and a reason for the specific type of weathering.
  3. Ernie Decals look good and I'm hoping you don't go overboard on the weathering.
  4. Rob I feel your pain but as I follow your progress, the level of work, especially the PE with all its frustrations is amazing as I study the photographs. Patience and skill is the key and as always, you have shown they are some of your most important used tools. The boats do look amazing with all the PE details and the four overall photographs of the Arizona shows how far you have come and the level of detail now is amazing as well. Just stick with it, as you are drawing closer and closer to the paint shop and finish line. Of course, rigging waits at the end and hopefully will not be another adventure.
  5. Kev Amazing progress and nothing jumps out at me as being too bright or 'too much'. Tremendous work.
  6. Chris Making some mighty nice progress and yes, the resin tail does seem to be the gift that keeps giving. The horizontal stabilizer fit is surely going to need a lot of TLC, a brass rod or two for strength at the attachment points and the miss-match of the curvature is going to take a lot of thinking. No question you will work it all out - just a lot of work getting it all to blend together. Sometimes you wonder what the AM makers were thinking and if they ever did a few test fits before selling the AM parts. Engines are looking good and it sure seems the old school way of hand painting the details is the best way to go.
  7. Ready and waiting - front row seat.
  8. Mike Go for leaving the turret openings open ... modelers poetic license for sure and always allowed so we can appreciate all the details and hard work.
  9. Gus Looking forward to your next update and photos
  10. John Nice decision and surely looks as if you are joining the ranks of Chris and myself with build some of the Oldies of our hobby. Looking forward to following your progress.
  11. Rob Agreed and these days, almost all my jet models in the stash are 48th scale. I've been slowly collecting mainly Tamiya and ZM kits with a few Hobby Boss kits as well. I also have been buying Quinta detail sets for them as well, as I am addicted to using them.
  12. Sasha Very nice detailing and work on the main gear.
  13. Chris Nice haul for sure. Looking forward to your Spit Mk VIII build.
  14. MIke Absolutely go for the windows to be open. Even if the Walrus was launched with them open, it's no biggie at the speeds she flies. Of course, digressing, I remember the hot summer days, I flew a J3 with the horizontal door open - just lots of fresh air and a bit more noise - nothing like it.
  15. Gaz Brilliant update and your eye for detail is amazing ... the sailors' hats as an example are from late war and the build is pre war. The woodwork and linoleum look so good and perfectly done. I'm with Chris in that my modeling skills nowhere encompass what is needed for ship modeling and figures. I do envy you guys who have such talents I lack and so much appreciate following your work and all the photographs along the journey. linoleum.
  16. Rob WOW, the second catapult and the stern crane look absolutely perfect, as with boats and their cradles. To my eye, the PE work is just brilliant and will look even better when painted and installed on deck. So glad you will be going with 'full' photographs of the Arizona when done, as they certainly will be a joy to see, high lightening the detail and the beauty of the build. Prior to the completion, I just wanted to thank you for the detailed PE techniques you have shared with us - will certainly become a technique I'll be using down the road.
  17. Kev Looking so good and your light weathering adds wonderfully without distracting rom all the detail work. Going to be a good week for sure.
  18. John Cammo paint work looking mighty good - perfectly done.
  19. Jeroen Sweet! The details on the fuel tank look terrific.
  20. Oliver Absolutely superb - can't find anything new to complement your work - just brilliantly done. Weathering is so realistic, it almost as if I needed to send the crew chief over to do a bit of cleaning.🏆 You never can posy enough photographs.
