  1. Chris Terrific start on the Tamiya Me262, just nothing like the enjoyment of a Tamiya kit in my book. While I have started the GWH P-40 - I'm still having more then a rough time getting the mojo into play after the Whirlwind disaster. My cure: I just started a 1/48 Tamiya F-16C with the only AM being the addition of a Quinta 3D cockpit; talk about a mojo builder. I can feel the juices starting to flow again.
  2. Gaz Holy smokes .. some fantastic work and the spinner mask look so good.
  3. John Brilliant work - your flawless finish speaks volumes.
  4. John I'm always in awe of your incredible and beautiful workmanship. Another beauty to the collection🏆
  5. Scott Awesome progress on the tri-color paint scheme - looking mighty good.
  6. John Simply amazing ... not even Superman could keep up with your remarkable pace for turning out perfect builds
  7. Carl Fantastic progress ... some mighty good looking legs
  8. Magnificent engineering and the bar that every manufacture should strive for. 🏆
  9. Thanks Gaz Awesome photograph and the cammo sure looks like fine line - in scale should be close to a hard edge 😉 I've read many times Robert Scott's book: God is my Co Pilot and of course, I haven't seen it for years.
  10. Phil Absolutely agree and based on a true story. best role Gregory Peck ever played in my book.
  11. Thanks Rob Finally, the Whirlwind pushed me over the edge and for a few seconds, I couldn't help myself - just too many months of struggling and frustrations. For me, it's a hobby to relax with and find enjoyment in and when that's long gone and all I have been through the past few years, struggling with a model kit, isn't worth the time or effort. Literally life is too short and no reason keep struggling and literally having no fun at the bench. I've learned from the experience and am moving on: The P-40 is now underway
  12. Gaz How true and I'm willing to bet the rivet lines weren't as accurate or straight after lunch
  13. Phil I'm with you and spend time at the end of each session cleaning and straightening up. I just feel better when it's time to hit the bench running, that almost everything is neat, clean and in its place. My big 'wall' is putting a part down and then in the next minute or so, I can't find it - loads of senior moments these days.
  14. Gaz WOW - love those rivets and the time and work is absolutely worth all the effort - looks fantastic.
  15. I'm tinkering and motivating and going to sit at the bench and see if the juices will flow and the mojo kindle. I've been tinkering with the Big Allison V-1710-30 first as my Quinta Detail Set hasn't arrived yet. I have my suspicions on the color callouts for the Allison V-12 and will go with my reference photos. As with all WWII aircraft, engine restorations are in their own color world, so I'm going with what I have and should look the part. With any luck and a lot of motivation from Lady Luck I just might have a real starting update early next week. Fingers crossed 🤞
  16. Gaz Great John Wahn movie and a s kid growing up, it was always at the top of my list. I've seen it so many times, I have the lines almost memorized
  17. Gaz It sure does and for me there are three that are at the top of my list: Twelve O'Clock High Dive Bombers Saving Private Ryan
  18. Thanks John It happens and I just didn't see it coming as I managed to square away all the other obstacles. For lesson learned and I'm sticking to the type of kit I enjoy and if it looks like a fight right from the start, at my age, might just be better to move on right there and then and build a kit I find satisfying and rewarding without the need to keep banging my head against the wall.
  19. Phil I'm calming down and fell the juices starting to flow. I've been reading the instructions for the P-40 and am going to try and make a start with the engine, as my Quinta Studio Decal set hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully, I'll be back in the saddle this weekend.
  20. Hi Martin Yup, that's the link which I printed out at the start of my research - a thorough as you get. Appreciate the info.
  21. Phil Looking so good and even short work sessions are better then known. MY problem is not knowing where I left off from the previous work session but where I just put down the part, I'm working on ... loads of senior moments
  22. Never understood, how a kit could be produced in this day and age and the 'dihedral was all wrong'.
  23. Nope, I honestly believe it was a dollar/cost issue. Not too difficult to fix and I'll need to check my kit and see if it is the same as Gaz and Bill's kit. In the past, I've primed and painted right over that type of finish and all was good, so who knows.
  24. Mike Absolutely brilliant work on the Big P&W - looking fantastic.
