F4U-1A Corsair Tamiya 1/32
Peterpools replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Rob Glad the mask fit so well -
Gus Sounds like a sound plan with no issues. Just don't rush letting the gloss black completely dry and all should be just fine
-
Rob I saw thew notice as well but the hard part is no pre orders, so you have to keep checking and hope for the best.

Just horrendous. and I know the FAA upon the NTSB final report, will change the rules so this type of accident and loss of life will not happen again. I remember when there was a bad crash at an air show years ago and in those days, aircraft were allowed to fly towards and over the spectators and the injuries were very bad. I don't remember if anyone died but FAA changed the rules and now there is no flying over or towards the spectators at a certain distance, where the direction of flight is parallel to the stands.

Chris Worth all the aggravation and struggle - your Swallow is looking just awesome. I feel your pain with the seatbelt work and in the end, they do look terrific. Everyone looks into the cockpit first when looking at a completed model and those seatbelts are the perfect finishing touch.

Phil nice progress and the details do look mighty good. Looking forward to your treatment of the links as Gaz pointed out, they sure are very finicky. -
Bill Nice progress and your 'fixes' worked so sell in correcting the kit issues. Just a shame ZM spent so much time on a lot of never to be seen details and maybe should have devoted that energy to part fit. Just a shame these gremlins worked their way into a kit that had such great promise

Border Models Lancaster B.1 "Victorious Virgin"
Peterpools replied to Winnie's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Terrific progress and a ton of work. I've also been following Nigel's progress since day one and the kit is a massive project. From what I gather Nige has been saying is that when Border obtained the molds, they had to write their own and complete the kit, as it was yet yet ready for production. Nige did spend a lot of time showing how he delt with cockpit floor and bomb bay roof, as the instructions are not correct. Glad your Lanc is out of the box and back on the bench -
John INCREDIBLE🏆 What a build record and collection

John Glad to see you're giving the 104 a second go. Take it from a paint stripping expert with way too much experience: I always strip paint off a model with Mr Color Self leveling Thinner and then follow up with 70% Isopropanol alcohol as a final cleaner. Works like a charm. Primer for me is either MRP Light Gray Primers or Mr Surfacer - both have been full proof so far. The only masking I've done on NMF's is with Tamiya tape and so far, Lady Luck has been with me, as I can't remember any paint lifting at all. My gloss black base coat is either Mr Color or Tamiya Lacquer, both dry rock hard and glue themselves to the primer. Is the Testor's Flat White paint or a primer? I've always assumed primer actually eats into the plastic finish and acts as a nice base for the paint to adhere t, while paint doesn't eat that well into the plastic. Fingers crossed all goes according to plan. 🤞🤞🤞

F4U-1A Corsair Tamiya 1/32
Peterpools replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Rob As a card-carrying Tamiya Fan Boy, just love their kits. Details and the engineering/fit is superb; for me, I couldn't ask for more. As always, your work is flawless and the key to how well the Corsair is going toether. -
Gaz Oh, those rivets - they must be giving you nightmares about now. Sitting back and studying all your photographs, the effect is amazing and so well worth all the effort and work. Weathering as always is so effective and the hues and tones blend so well, which I think is the key in replicating reality. Can't believe Washington beat Philadelphia. As a NY Giant fan, the division now tightens up even more.

GWH Curtiss P-40B; The Flying Tigers
Peterpools replied to Peterpools's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks Rob, feels good to be back and at the bench again as well. I will build the engine as a separate model down the road as Carl is 100% correct. As far all the time I spent adding the fuselage details, it would make a good cutaway project. But for GWH to lavish that much time and expense, which ultimately the buyer pays for just doesn't make sense. So few builders would do a cutaway built and the biggest reason I added all the parts was to show what was included in the kit and no real way to see it after the fuselage has been closed up. Seems as if GWH went to lunch with ZM and talked about what internal details should be included in an expensive kit. -
Horrible news 😪
-
Absolutely horrible news and then to see the midair, breaks my heart. The loss of all on board, my heart goes out to them.😪

John Is that build and stash or just built?
-
John Terrific progress on your latest Mustang and a nice decision on making your own decals and markings. Of course, no way could you have built so far as many Mustangs as Corsairs and my money is riding on the Corsairs.

Revell Me262 B-1a/U-1 Nachtjäger "Red 12"

Hi Chris Still getting caught up and I do like the weathered look of the wings. The wings would always receive more of the suns bleaching effect then the fuselage sides. -

Just catching up and your Mustang is looking so good. I prefer my builds more on the clean side but it's always a matter of personal preference. -

Thanks Gaz, so very much appreciated. I plan on mostly using the cotton bud method as I've already wet sanded the offending panel fit were needed. See how it goes. -
