  1. Thanks Mike Making slow progress but getting something done each day. I have the fuselage glued up and a lot of tweaking was needed to achieve a good fit with the nose assembly. Of course, the fuselage needs to be glued to the wing assembly which is now underway first or if you glue the nose on first, the wing fuselage fit won't work!
  2. Martin Thanks for posting the link. The kit looks incredible
  3. Thanks Phil Life sure does have a habit of doing that. Just glad to be back at the bench and making progress
  4. Chris Panel lines, rivets and weathering look so good. Playing around with the degree of how much of the Mig PLW is removed and working the Q-tip in the direction of the air flow along with holding back somewhat on the gloss clear worked perfectly. Nothing like part fit of Tamiya kits.
  5. Ernie How right you are. We keep asking for more details and accuracy, regardless of the limits of technology and now throw in 3D modeling as well and still expect perfection in fit and assembly. These days I'm a happy camper with descent details and hope for no or few fit issues, which for the most part doesn't happen. With all the details added as I move forward in the build, the fit gremlins are popping up everywhere - guess you're right, you can't have both. I'm so sorry to hear about; Death is all around me, and we fight on. My prayers that you and your family are well and alright.
  6. I keep telling myself, just walk away for another day, still waiting for me to listen to myself 🙃
  7. Absolutely is .... the more the better👍
  8. Ernie Got ya, just been using Image Shack for so many years, it's habit and for us old folk, hard to break old habits 😉
  9. Scott Right with Carl - how was her luck?
  10. John One awesome Fisher Panther and the Iron Works Gang from Bethpage would be proud.
  11. John Just checked out your completed/finished photos and the 104 looks so good. I wish I had the same control with the Whirlwind as you did with the 104 and just put it on the SOD until things calmed down.
  12. John Great save and your 104 looks perfect as always. Super work on the NMF.
  13. Rob Quite a plan and will be following closely. As a Tamiya Fan Boy, I've come to realize that I need to clean any paint off of mating surfaces or there will be tight fit issues - just use to it at this stage of the game. Chipping sounds spot on and can't wait to see it through the paint stages.
  14. I've been using Image Shack for more years then I care to remember and resize the file there when posting. Almost all my pics have spent time in Photoshop and Lightroom and I export the finished images to a build folder and then upload them to Image Shack for posting. There are nine resolutions Image Shake offers for uploading to forum sites. I use either 1024x768 and 1280 x 1024
  15. John Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I actually prefer the look of the 104 with her wing tips clean and neat.
  16. I always read the historical and modeling info Tamiya and other manufactures included with their kits - just adds to the overall enjoyment for me. Afterall, I'm an airplane fanatic at heart.
  17. Carl Perfect painting technique for the Falcon. I'm in the same camp as Rob and rarely paint anything on the sprues but for this build, it's the absolute way to go and looking so mighty good.
  18. Gaz Dirt, grime, engine oil and fuel stains ... the life of a combat aircraft and some mighty convincing operational weathering. Looking the part so well.
  19. Thanks Ernie Should have done exactly that but, I just lost it for a brief few minutes and that's all she wrote. Recovering from the Whirlwind, I dove into the GWH P-40 and as I am discovering, while not a limited production kit, it has a lot of the same vices. Making progress and dealing with some 'over engineered' assemblies as well and some bad design ideas in my opinion, which isn't always worth that much according to the Chief.
  20. Carl Just seems to come back and haunt us when we least expect it
  21. Chris I updated the list with the manufactures. I found these listings on LSP. Just passing on the information so we can see what hopefully will be coming down the road.
  22. Been doing some extra reading on the up-coming Hurricane and there has been a lot of discussion about the dihedral issue. Radu, who most of us know and respect, had a hand in the design of the kit and assures us, that the correct dihedral has been designed into the kit and what we are looking at is a few badly done photographs. Here is the link to Radu's response with proper photographs to put the issue to rest. Just scroll down to Radu's post. THE EYE OF THE STORM! Revell Hurricane - Page 7 - LSP Discussion - Large Scale Planes It does amaze me how many comments and opinions there are on a kit that hasn't been released yet. There are more incredible 32nd scale kits coming our way: Spitfire Mk1a - Kotare A-20 - HK Sea Fury - DBMK .. Just CAD drawings but who knows. SR-71- VFS Vintage Fighter Series on display at Telford And of course, the Trumpeter Devastator ... we're still waiting. Lots of new companies and we shall see.
  23. John Great save and the 104 with her markings is looking so good
  24. Thanks Kev, Much appreciated. Somehow, I don't think of myself as an old geezer, it just occurs to me when I keep trying to do things, I never gave a second thought to and now, struggle to accomplish. 👨‍🦳 Right with you and I also find the Quinta Seatbelt sets just fine and they do look great. I can understand and appreciate the "ZM" educational philosophy at times but just doesn't make as that value has to be lost in that once the model is built, most of the 'internal educational" is only a memory. But the biggest negative to these types of kits, is it complicates the assembly and causes all sorts of build issues. One part out of perfect alignments and lookout, down the line.
