Valentine MK.II/IV Tamiya 1/35
Peterpools replied to belugawhaleman's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Paul Nice progress and glad you found the track of the track issue, that didn't require a lot of backtracking and fixing. She sure looks good and I'm right with Phil - pull the trigger on weathering, keeping it on the light side. -
What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)

Rob I'm going to be ordering a can of Ammo by MIg Camouflage Masking Putty and seeing if has the same properties as Panzer Putty (creeping for one). See what happens. -
I've tried for two days to order mine directly from Kotare but cannot complete the order form. I've exchanged a few emails with Richard Alexander and there seems to be some address the New Zealand postal system doesn't recognize. In all the years I've been buying online and even with the kits I've purchased from WNW, this never was a problem. Richard went out of his way to help but the ordering process just will not work for me, so I'll have to wait until my go to venders have them for sale.

Thanks Scott for the explanation and info. With gloss paint and clears, I normally finish up with at least one or two wet coats and the surface is almost always super smooth. matt paints not as much. I'm going to try and shoot on a wet of only Self leveling Thinner as a test and see what happens.

Rob Holy Cow ... looking tremendous - just love the cammo -
Carl Keeping my eye open for it and prices as always should be all over the place.

Gaz Terrific progress and looking so good. So far there doesn't seem to be any fit issue as the two fuselage haves look to have a perfect fit after adding in the front office and all the fuselage ribs. A few sink marks and I'll take that after spending hours and hours trying to figure out what goes where on the Whirlwind. Of course, no matter how well the kit is engineered, it's the builder's skill in the end that is the critical factors and all looks perfect. "Patience, my man" ... yes, I'm trying as hard as I can. .

Kev OUTSTANDING! Your rigging looks fantastic - what a masterful job -
Scott Amazing build and your speed is lightyears ahead of mine. Yellow paint looks smooth as silk. I'm not quite sure what you meant by "Just got finished re-spraying those areas and a good spray of Mr Hobby leveling thinner to blend things together. ". Are you shooting Mr Hobby Leveling Thinner straight on the model? If so, I've never done that. Any hints and tips?

Gaz Awesome work on the front office and the start of the wings. After seeing your seatbelt set from HGW, I'm wondering how the set I purchased from Airscale will compare. I dare not touch the plastic until I finish the Whirlwind and every update photo adds to the temptation - I keep telling myself to be strong but it is getting harder and harder.

Rog I fell off my chair as I scrolled through your latest purchase, absolutely a Guinness Book of World Records of epic proportions. Enjoy the F4's and the ZM 109. Only major F4's missing are some of the Hasegawa kits. I tip my hat to you.

Rob Nice progress as the first color of the cammo finish looks smooth as silk. -
Phil I'm waiting for the same as all I've seen are CAD drawings which do look rather good. The kit is due for release in early October - as always, we wait and see.

Happy Birthday - enjoy your special day

Latest info on the kit is up on: The Modelling News: Preview: Meng's Wild Weasel - a feature packed first in the F-4 series in 48th... Kit does look mighty good.

Ernie Awesome progress and the green zinc chromate looks so good on the lower wing interior - 'pops' all the details and allows us to see and appreciate all the work. Not sure if I missed the question on what adhesive to use to attach the PE panels and details - these days I use mainly either Micro Kristal Klear or Ammo by Mig Ultra Glues for almost all my PE work - work great and a good deal of working time. BTW, I'm in full agreement - the exterior PE panels and details do make a big difference. Rear canopy - fit issues? Why am I not surprised.

Martin Absolutely. My brother has major issues with his eyesight and has gone through a lot. He has been so vigilant and with his doctors, he is doing everything he can. Once all your procedures are over and behind you, you'll marvel at what you now can see and wondered why you waited - just human nature. Good luck and all will be well
-
Martin Good luck with your eye surgery - all will be well and I'll be waiting for your build thread.

Nose surgery for a Trumpeter P-51B
Peterpools replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
John "Lots of progress" doesn't come close. How about Amazing and Faster then a Speeding Bullet at the bench. I'm slow as a snail compared to your efforts. Paint work with the invasion stripes is absolutely perfect. And the nose: perfect. -
Thanks Carl Most likely I'll do the same

For anyone ready to purchase the Kotare Spitfire and Kotare being a new company, what is the best way to go? Order direct with shipping from New Zealand as with WNW Waiting for dealers to have them. I normally purchase my models and supplies form either Sprue Bros and Scale Hobbyist and most kits from each are at a discount but some such as ZM are not. Neither web site has the kit listed for pre order or even lists it. Just wondering what others are going to do, as Kotare hasn't listed any dealers yet.

Chris BTW, my next build is going to be the ZM 109 and my first try at Luftwaffe cammo. Hope mine comes out as good as yours. 🤞
