  1. Ernie Completely agree on the production numbers should have been much higher ... I just wonder why?
  2. Scott WOW, looks fantastic and love the close up nose pic
  3. Carl Nice prep work and the glossy black primer looks perfect. Can't wait to see the 104 in her NMF.
  4. Carl Right with you; read labels - never.
  5. Thanks Carl, sure looks more metallic on my screen but knowing it's black now, thin and smooth is the word
  6. John I see the gaps and they are certainly large. I'm thinking epoxy is the way to go. Fingers crossed
  7. Rob Awesome progress and your Lancia is looking fantastic. Cammo is the highlight of the show and the method you used with the oil marker was a first for me and note for future needs down the road. Thank you for adding the build here, as it is much easier to follow.
  8. Paul, nice progress and your method of doing the tracks in preparation for painting and weathering seems to be the way to go.
  9. John When I built my Sea Fury, I has the same gap issues at the wing/fuselage seams and huge gapes to fill. The cowling also had fit issues but not as bad. Paul sent me a few replacements for both and the best fit still had their share of gaps. My guess is this type of solid resin kit has a lot more shrinkage then a more conventional style. of injected molded.
  10. Carl Looking so good and you're so close to priming the full bird. Which primer did you use as in the photograph it appears to be a polished aluminum? I'm pretty much with Ernie and always wanted to build the Starfighter, just never got around to doing one. Note to self, add the 104 to the build schedule down the road.
  11. Gaz Nice going and thank you for posting the detailed photos of your 'fix' - which worked perfectly. We're all in agreement that this fix should never have been necessary and shame on ZM for letting this error pass. Bill started his ZM 109 and has a build thread going ... going to be both fun and educational for me following and taking notes. I'm about two weeks away from starting mine and it seems we just might have a mini GB on hand. ☺️
  12. Bill Hoping your recovery is as fast as possible and the pain is easing up after the surgery. Nice start on your ZM 109 .. engine assembly and bearer look spot on. I've been chomping at the bit to start mine but I need to first finish the Whirlwind. Just could be this might be a mini GB at this rate. Will be following with great interest
  13. Scott Holy Smokes, your Texan is looking simply fantastic - beautiful work.
  14. Kriss Cammo work came out perfect - surely is going to be a stunner.
  15. John A-OK - looks mighty good and glad the panther is back on the bench and underway again
  16. Fantastic air brush work - cammo work is unreal!
  17. Ernie She surely is a Big Gal and taped together for a test fitting. Can't wait to see her in the paint shop and wear Navy Blue.
  18. Carl Nice work on getting all the glass to fit - looks mighty good. I always worry about fussy and teasing the canopy glass, for fear it would crack or just plain old break, Glad your fix worked perfectly and no issues.
  19. Carl Nice work on the canopy details. And those last pics on the canopy fit issues - a lot of delicate work is going to be needed for sure.
  20. Thanks John I hope you're right and I'm still waiting
  21. John I'm with Scott. I've tried straightening some warps on my Sea Fury and thank goodness Paul replaced the parts, as I couldn't do it. Hope you're a lot more successful. Waiting for a build thread, so I can see how you are doing
  22. Carl You still earned the Title of Forum Hero🏆 Nice to know that the front windshield fit so well on its own and not surprised the balance of the glass needs a bit of work.
  23. Carl Talk about being a hero and an eventful walk❗ Terrific progress on the 104's glass, framing and the details on the IP combing - looks absolutely perfect. The front windscreen fits perfectly and I'm sure it didn't come that way.
  24. Thanks Ernie, very much appreciated. For some strange, unknown reason, I've always had a soft spot for the Whirlwind and that's admitting how little I actually knew about the airplane. To a pilot's eyes, she just looked so good. So far, the Whirlwind has had its moments and a good deal of those moments and "cuss Word" steps has been the result of poorly done instructions, that are unclear, at times useless and the builders blunders as well. The kit itself isn't anywhere near what you have and are going through with the Helldiver, with what seems like endless frustrations, countless corrections and fixes. Believe me, I tip my hat to you, knowing I never would have the enthusiasm and determination to 'engineer' and correct all the kit issues.
