Quick builds are great for mojo boosts and building the model as it comes straight out of the box: of course that means no fixin’ just gluing and movin’ on. Sure looks like you’re settling into more of a OOB build with a few enhancements, maintaining your high standards and not compromising build quality. Keep ‘em comin Peter

In the 1950’s all my modeling was speed builds. I loved Revell and Monogram and from what I remember, it never took more then a few hours to build and finish a model with brush painting and decaling. A lot of the kits weren’t even painted and they were easily under an hour. The fun was just building in my room and I never saw: seams, glue stains and flash. Kits were also under a dollar if I remember correctly. So long ago. A speed build today would be a whole lot different as we all see those nasties. But a quick, enjoyable, relaxing and fun build over a weeked would be great. Scale: 1/72 Day 1: build straight out of the box. Seams filled with CCA, sanded and primed. Day 2: Paint with quick drying gloss paints: Mr Color. Decal and finish. My guess: two full days at the bench. Maybe we should give it a try Peter

Nice to read your feeling a lot better and back at the bench. Just don't push it and go slow. A Jug to for a bit of a diversion .. Looking forward to the build photos as you go. Keep 'em comin Peter

May 2019 ... I'm already counting the days. No question in my mind, will need to buikd at least two: one with every panel open and one all buttoned up. I'm hoping the AM guys are planning a flied day for us. Peter

Guys I grew up in the 1950's and 1960's half way between Grumman's (Bethpage) and Repiublic's (Farmingdale) and have more then a soft spot for anything with wings that came off of their production lines, not to mention I'm a Hellcat fan. I'll be leading the charge when the Big Hellcat it's the shelves. Peter
