Sky King's Songbird: Update: 3/2/24 - SOD .. BINNED
Peterpools replied to Peterpools's topic in The Great Twins Broup Bluild
Thanks Guy The IP was a bit testy to detail, as the easiest part of the detailing was the size ... everything else needed to be worked in and looked correct. Unfortunately, once I assembled the fuselage (update hopefully later today), nothing fits as the size, scale and proportions of the interior assemblies and parts seem way off. -
Sky King's Songbird: Update: 3/2/24 - SOD .. BINNED
Peterpools replied to Peterpools's topic in The Great Twins Broup Bluild
Thanks Kev, Long way to go and loads of time, no most of the build time has been delegated to part clean up and the IP. Getting ready to post an update later today (hopefully 🤞) as I finally have the fuselage together and working on the wings, engines and gear. John is in a class all by himself: incredible speed and brilliant workmanship. -
John Good POA and fingers crossed you locate the decal sheet. 🤞

Shouldn't be but sometimes it's a relief to know the build is finished and time to move on. -
FW-190F-8 Revell saved from SOD!

John Good call. When the fun and enjoyment are gone and your enthusiasm for the kit has vanished, it's time to move on and start a project that calls you to the bench. At our stage of the game, banging our head against the wall to keep working on a kit and being frustrated, makes zero sense. You absolutely made the right call.👍 -
John Nice start on your next Corsair and a FAA aircraft sounds mighty good - something different for sure.

Paul Great find at a great price.

Martin Enjoy the Paasche Talon AB, I've read a lot of good things about it. I have two H&S Infinity Plus and Iwata AB's for many years and as time has gone on, spend more and more time stripping them down, doing deep cleaning and replacing parts, which especially for the H&S AB's, the cost of the parts is insane. I've been looking at replacing them as they are all over a decade old. No complaints as I've surely gotten my money's worth but the upkeep costs, have made the decision for me on replacing them before ordering more parts when needed. are

Paul, WOW, those kits look awesome and have to be a build thread for sure.

Phil Looking so good and progress is progress, as speed has nothing to do with it. 🏆 -
Oliver Looking so good and the figures seem to be the equal and a nice compliment to your work.
-
Gus Looking good and always a treat to follow your progress.

Mighty nice work and I'm sure it's a relief that the paint work is done and came out looking spot on the money. -

Rob Looking so good. It's hard to believe WHW would show such a great detail imaged of the bomb release switches in the observer station and not provide the parts in the kit. Nice solution to the problem and the office is looking mighty good. -

Hi Mike I know exactly what you mean as all the cabin windows on the Songbird glue in from the inside. making matters worse, they set in a slot which is almost too big for the window itself. I wish they would have designed the kit with side tabs allowing for using Extra Thin but of course not. I decided to use Micro Kristal Kleer and it being a very thick PVA glue helped fill in some of the gaps. I took my best shot and fingers cross all will work out. Another idea I'm still tossing over is before closing up the fuselage, running a strip of the Good Scotch Clear Tape across the entire cabin window wall, front to back, Not sure how that will work but it is extra insurance. In any case neither kit's window design is very good. -
Scott Nice choice, as you can never go wrong with a Tomcat. The past months, I've been doing a lot of building in 48th scale and yes, it does take a little getting used to size wise, but the detail is all there. I'm a huge fan of Quinta 3D detail sets and they transform Tamiya already detail office into a show case.

Rob Some mighty terrific progress: weathering and the details are spot on the money. Of course, the leather seat and weathering is so brilliantly done. -

Carl Never knew either about anime but your conversion is looking simply brilliant. I'm always amazed at how many projects you have going at one time - something I've never been able to do. -

Mike Nice progress on the Big Sikorsky and the seat repairs and the light weathering look just the part. I'm about close to you in the building stage with the Songbird and hopefully will finish the internal airbrush work today and finally be able to close up the fuselage and move onto the wings and gear. -
Scott That's awesome and what our forum is all about. 🏆

NIce progress mark - going to be awesome when finished and all lit up.
