  1. I know I'm not the only guy here who uses the Kitmaker Network. It's been down for two days already. Anybody heard anything? Cheers! Gaz
  2. This was all MRP masked over MRP paint and MRP Primer. Grey MRP Primer covered by a insignia white MRP basecoat. I had two small incidences of lift on the underside. That being said, I went to extra lengths to ensure that the surface was paint friendly. I sanded everything with 2,000 grit paper, and wore gloves to keep skin oils from contaminating the surface. It is possible that I missed a couple tiny spots where I had paint lift, or that I contaminated them with skin oils by accident. The lift was red over white, whilst the primer didn't lift anywhere. HTH, Gaz
  3. Sheesh, glad you pulled through, mate!
  4. I just finished this 1/35 Sturer Emil: I think I need to stand farther back with the camera as the periphery seems to be blurry...
  5. I'm looking forward to QMHE (Queensland Model Hobby Expo) in August this year. Well... maybe. I'm beginning to wonder if it'll happen. With Shizuoka cancelled in Japan, and now Hungary's Mosonshow cancelled, I wonder what is next. I try not to immerse myself in the news too much, but when it comes to my hobby, my ears perk up a bit. Not an overly social person, I look forward to those few events that bring modellers together. I'm still trying to build that kit that I think will be worthy to compete. I build a lot of ten-footers... they look best when you're standing a bit away. But even if I didn't submit anything for competition, I would still spend most of the two days at the event.
  6. Looking good, John! Bout time you built a 1/32 scale carrier deck for all of them thangs.
  7. Looks awesome, Dale! Love the wear and tear! Gaz
  8. To get the pencil thin line, it's best to thin the MRP with self-levelling thinner. Around 8 is where I start testing. Then I go up or down depending on how the paint is landing on the latex glove I wear. But my lungs couldn't perform that long.
  9. Thank you, Dale. The cloud pattern was all done by hand, mostly in figure eights. At around 8PSI I tried to simulate how a 1/48 scale man would have done it with his limited reach and with occasional bouts with boredom. Gaz
  10. They look amazing, Steve!
  11. Wow! Haven't checked in in a while. Amazed to see the progress.
  12. Very nice work, Harv!
  13. This thing: Used 3/4 of a bottle of Richthofen's Red over the white base coat. Bear in mind I didn't have to paint a lot of areas due to the design. IIRC, the black took a few coats to reach opacity, over the white base coat. This thing: (in 1/48 scale) Which is about the same size as a 1/32 single engined plane, used only 1/3 of a bottle of RLM 76 over both gray primer and RLM 74&75. Not much paint was required due to the similarities of color.
  14. I haven't seen Picard yet. I hope it's better than the three series that followed the original,
  15. I use acrylics and glass cleaner all of the time. And I do have a brass area at the bottom of each cup of my two Iwatas. Never had any problems, tho. Nothing seems to be touching the needlrs. I think they're stainless steel. They do act unhappy if I don't wipe the needle clean after each use.
  16. Be well, mate!
