  1. It all looks awesome! I know the plastic of this kit, and was enthralled with it when I bought it for somebody else to win. So, I've never built it. Your work looks great!. In this scale decals are much better than painted blobs.
  2. Both planes look excellent, Dale! Keep up the good work!
  3. Love the added details! Tube ans wires are a great addition... Hope they'll be seen once you close it up. Gaz
  4. I haven't been around much, but expected to see it almost finished... Anyway... take a break man! Looks great, tho!
  5. Sorry to bombard with unsolicited photos Ern... But this seems like a good answer for your question. This guy uses oils to give very subtle but lively definition to armor. On this one he used blues and browns to add visual interest. He's also inspired me to be bolder with colors and oils. Gaz
  6. Well done!!! Stand up and take a bow! Really love the way you used pigments on the wings.
  7. I like most of the Japanese fighters for looks even if not for their fighting capabilities. I used to play IL-2 Sturmovik online at a place that had historical scenarios and I'd always 'fly' Japanese if it was a Pacific scenario. My favorites to 'fly' online were the N1K1 and N1K2 cuz they were kick-ass and had four 20mm's. My proudest Japanese "sortie" saw me down three Wildcats with an A6M2. Usually in that scenario my Zeke was always catching fire. Yep... I was seriously addicted. For models, I reckon all of the fighters look cool and I'll get to each of them someday. Most of their bomber aircraft leave me cold, though. The Betty had to be one of the ugliest aircraft I've ever seen. Love this one:
  8. I'm trying to teach my granddaughter that spiders aren't interested in biting and eating her. Maybe it'll sink in. Who knows.
  9. Dreaming about a spider... wow!
  10. Got two going at the moment: Trumpeter's Sturer Emil 1/35: And Hasegawa's 1/32 Bf 109F4 in a JG 54 scheme:
  11. Oh, they've engineered some great things... but during the Cold War, their gear was woefully inadequate as is shown in many combats in the Mid East and SEA. The AK 47 has it's positive points... it's rugged for sure. But I think I'd still rather have an M-16.
  12. VEry nice work on both planes, Dale!
  13. We spent all of that time and money worrying about the Reds. Yet, everything they came up with was crap. Though... I'm glad we never had to find out how well their ICBM's worked.
  14. You did a great job on that. I've heard a few horror stories about that kit. It's not just the depth and width of the rivets. It's the ones that aren't perpendicular to the aircraft's skin that anger me the most. They look oval once painted. Gaz
  15. 1/4 scale Albatros! Is that plastic, resin, or wood and paper?
  16. The pfalz is a beauty! On Facebook I saw a piece of silbergrau trophy with cross that had been taken by an American airman in WWI. It could only have been from a pfalz. It looked as if it was painted with silver dope. I think the term “silbergrau” confuses ppl. I may have saved the photo, but am at work, so can’t check.
  17. I have three donor kits. Donors because shit didn’t fit or because dealing with the mad riveter made them unpalatable. Two of the three are Trumpy. I’m a bit gun shy at this point.
  18. I think it's a cool plane well worthy of a decent, non-Trumpeter rendition.
  19. Well it flew.... and in 1/32 would be: And eh... Mig 15 please...
  20. I'm sorry guys, but the baddest ass of them all was the Tiger I Armor to defeat the best anti-tank belts... yes, anti-tank belts, not some lonely Ratch-bum hiding behind the only bush on the Steppe. And a gun and optics made to reach out and touch someone. No tank will ever mete out as much punishment or have a greater kill to loss ratio. When people think of tank, 70% or better think of this very baddass machine. Gaz
  21. Thursday is my day this week. I hope to get at least five hours of bench time. I have a 109 to work on as well as Sturer Emil.
  22. Well... on my second wife and though she doesn't encourage stash growth, she's yet to actively oppose it or give me a dirty glare (or worse) because of it. I complete about a dozen a year, so I'm four years ahead, I reckon. My stash is around 55 with half aircraft, half armor, and a few warships... s'cuse me for going over two halves. I don't have any duplicates. I have more 109's than anything, but each is a different mark, or maker. By nationality I have 1 meatball, 1 red star, 2 white stars, a lot of black crosses, and no bullseyes. Make sense? Hope so. I do intend to build them all. I would like to get a Klingon D-7 Battlecruiser built with lights someday. I built one a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (Camp Lejeune, North Carolina) but it had no lights, I had no airbrush, and I didn't know diddly about weathering. Gaz
  23. Yessir that's exactly what they are. I misinterpreted the photos and painted the fairings black when actually they should have been the same color as the underlying camo, either 74 or 75. The picture I was interpreting was taken in bright sunlight.
  24. Most guys that do the wings do some pre-shading on either side of the ribs. So, your best option there would be a darkening color feathered from each rib. You could probably do it with a thin mist from the airbrush as well.
