Dragon Panther A with Zimmerit
GazzaS replied to GazzaS's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thank you, Phil. The base color was a bit of a mix job on my part from SMS Paints. Dunkelgelb mixed with panzer grey, white, and a bit of khaki grey. I wanted a faded color and nothing too bright. The weathering is still to come. It's kind of one of those things you want the whole day to mess with. -
Thank you, Martin. Now... does this mean that all other cooling is done by that big scoop under the belly?

That makes great sense to me Rog. Thank you very much.

Dragon Panther A with Zimmerit

Hello Friends, Despite having the day off work, I got little modelling done. First I had to deal with puppy. He's really killing my morning routine with his need to play. Then I did some sanding, and zimmerit gouging followed by touch-up painting with the airbrush later this morning. Then it was off to find a birthday present for the wife. Then, once home from that I got onto the Silhouette software and created numeral masks for the side of the turret. I made the masks for the main reason was that I didn't want to have to deal with the decals on the rough zimmerit surface. But, I found that my masks barely contacted enough of the zimmerit surfaces to actually hold on. I made masks for the crosses, but the area around them was so small that I couldn't get the mask to adhere. so, I had to use the decals. But... they're 2o years old, and fell apart. So, I stole some from a late model Panther that has two sets of crosses... but they were only 15 years old. But they worked. So here is the current condition of the model: Happy modelling!- 179 replies

We all know that most German planes had a big supercharger intake on the port side. But I don't see such things on P-51's and Spits. Where's the air coming in at? I know some planes had exhaust driven superchargers... But I don;t think the two planes mentioned do.

Welcome back brothers and sisters! If you ever get to Memphis, Tennessee, you have to stop at Gridley's for some of the best ribs you've ever had in your life. Now, back to modelling. Have you ever looked at a pictures of a tank or some other camouflaged piece of gear and just wondered what kind of camo you're looking at? Poor lighting, over exposure... and the tank looks like it just has a few ambiguous shadows here and there. It's really frustrating. So, in this case I'm not really trying to depict a certain Panther. I've looked at a lot of pics, and not seen one that would fit my plans and supplies me with a complete camo scheme. So, I've free-handed my own. -

Honestly, Phil... I prefer that some people are honest about things like that. Because I was just going to leave them. It's nice to get likes. wows, and hearts and lovely comments. But I feel better now that I did change it. I usually won't say anything negative unless they ask for opinions. Then I try to be very tactful about it and avoid comedy. Comedy just doesn't translate in text. -

Thank you, my friends. Base coats by SMS Paints. It's a blend of Dunkelgelb, Panzergrau, Olivegrau, and white. The blue background grays out the paint. It;s more yellow IRL. -

Hallo meine lieben Klebstoffschnüffler und Schnüfflerinen. For those of us less fortunate, it says "Hello my fellow glue sniffers and female glue sniffers." ... I think. Anyway... I showed my last set of photos on Farcebook and three fellows told me that my 3d printed screens looked like shit. One made a direct comparison to Airfix, and another asked if they were home made. That's OK, I thought they were a little thick myself. It's good to get other opinions, some time. So, instead of buying new, I decided to cannibalize my Tamiya Panther D. Taking the screens meant that I might as well take whatever else is necessary to complete the build. Like the tow cables.... yellow arrows. But then I discovered that the Dragon parts that the cable eye has passing through it were too stubby to hold the cable in place. So, I had to take those as well. I also took the cable cutters to replace the pair I had broken. I added bolts to the mesh screens, too. They're not easy to see in some places due to all pof the gray and bare metal reflections. I also beat up the screen so that they would look like they were walked on and beat up. Hopefully all will look better once painted and weathered. Happy modelling. -
I actually love the bagpipes. I've been trying forever to get a digital copy of Rare Air's Mad Plaid album. I borrowed a cassette from my cousin way back when and played it until the cassette player in my car ate it. But anyway... who wants to leave a good joke unused?

Club meet today and a big score. The Italeri Crusader for 20AUD. That includes a set of Friul tracks worth 60AUD by themselves. Dragon Jagdpanther, 30AUD. Dragon Marder II with Bronco workable tracks 20AUD. AUD is worth 90 cents Canadian. Or 71 cents US. Or .62 Euro. And... .52 GBP

Just be courteous to your neighbors. One may be a Scottish Gentleman. And you know what the definition of a Scottish gentleman is, yes? A Scottish Gentleman is a man who can play the bagpipes... but doesn't.
