  1. impressive work, Rob!
  2. I wouldn't be surprised if the barrel wasn't bent a little. Trying to drill out the bore and the sight put a lot of pressures on it. Lead foil would be handy, I suppose. The wife and I don;t like wine, though. Thanks, mate.
  3. Thank you, Kai. I have thought about tape, actually. I'll have some learning to do, for certain.
  4. Hello Friends, Meet another component of the build. Some Luftwaffe infantry. In the Wehrmacht, the major role of the of the infantry squad was to support the machine gun. These guys have full kit. Canteen. bread bag. Mess tin. And personal weapons. Each one of them is like a tiny kit in it's own right. I haven't even touched the heads yet, and each kit will require some kind of strap whether it be the NCO's binoculars or the rifle straps of the two ammunition bearers. I didn't accomplish much on this weekend. Not looking forward to fabricating straps and slings. I'm debating on whether I should use brass foil, or smash some lead wire flat and cut it to a desired width. I also have some placement errors to fix. The directions weren;t very helpful in placing the mess tins, and I just found a photo showing me the right way. Happy modelling!
  5. I feel like I'm looking up a taller-person's nose.
  6. This kit (6168) has the feel of a Tamiya kit. Not many fiddly pieces at all. The suspension is fixed, like a Tamiya kit and there is no PE. The only area with a lot of parts are the indy link tracks... which only took a few hours in total to separate from the sprue and clean. Apparently this kit has been re-released. There are no interior parts whatsoever. 2-piece barrel. You'll need AM grill screens.
  7. Thank you, Rob. Sometimes... I look at the figures and wonder how many more months this will add to the projeckt. Thank you, Kai. Me, too. My last 1/35 figures were a little more rough than I wanted. Thank you, Peter. From my twisted mind, my friend. Thank you!
  8. And here are three snaps of Kaiser. Don;t let the soft eyes and innocent expression fool you. He still resists potty training.
  9. Toybox., my wife says. Where they can go and grab stuff that they know they are allowed to play with.
  10. Thank you, Peter. And if you don't mind, we'll segue right into an update. A couple weeks ago I received a set of 3d Printed screens from FC Model Trend. I'm not really sure if they are an improvement on the PE screens of yore. I guess we'll know when they are painted. A little MORE clean-up with a drill bit and added to the model: Next will follow a boring set of regular views showing that construction is mostly finished. The spare tracks made me drill holes in them, and make them appear realistically held in place by bent steel rods. Of course, I used copper wire. And finally... Figures to add to the base and kit giving it scale and 'life'. I haven;t done any camouflaged uniforms before... so this should be tortuous. Happy modelling!
  11. 5 O'clock Charlie.... It was a Ryan PT-22
  12. Whoa! That looks great, John!
  13. Interesting. I've never seen the Yak 18 before.
  14. Martin, Thank you for the great pics. Some really eye-openers there. I never really thought of the Sturmovik when I thought of the Korean war. Also glad for the hint about the octagonal panels. Would have been interesting, anyway.
  15. Hello Comrades. I am seeking images of North Korean airfields that may have been used by Soviet MiG-15s. I only have one, but since these MiG's carry the Soviet star, this may just be a Soviet airfield covered with hexagonal panels for a runway. Thank you for your thoughts and images.
  16. Seems to be a Russian thing happening lately. I have one Russian kit in my stash, and it's due for construction. But my new mantra is every model needs a figure and a base for scale. So, I ordered a MiG 15 pilot from the People's Republic of Czech. Hopefully it will arrive before too long. But a pilot standing next to his plane would look a little bare. So, for accompaniment I ordered this: One thing I love about Tamiya is that they always supply a figure. So my poor pilot won't be alone.
  17. Really shaping up nicely, Rob. Good work on those stencils and decals.
