  1. Aahh come on Carl, build it along with mine...lol Ron G
  2. Hey guys It's a real nice kit but the instructions are a mess (typical Takom). I'm trying to convert it to an Ausf N with the 7.5cm kwk 37 L/24 gun. I'm using leftover parts from my 1/16 Panzer IV. I'll post some pictures later. Ron G
  3. This just happened to arrive in the mail today. This will be in a diorama along with the 1/16 Tiger 1. Ron G
  4. Hey all I just ordered some 1/16 scale ww2 German recognition flags for the three tanks I'm working on. They get draped over the upper rear of the tanks so the Stukas don't mistake them for the enemy. Also, I received some 3D printed parts from AFV Modeller. When I get back from vacation I'll post some pictures. Ron G
  5. Hey Tom I just found this, WOW! you are a wizard my man. I like scratch building stuff for my builds, but I don't think I would like to take on anything like this. Besides my old eyes wouldn't be able to keep up...lol Ron G
  6. OK, I'm hooked, real me in. Ron G
  7. Great work Pete, I tried my hand on that one. The engines & the landing gear did me in. Ron G
  8. I'm trying to get some from him. He doesn't like to sell to people he doesn't know, he's afraid of some one making nock offs of his work. Ron G
  9. Most definitely yes! Check out Nigels build on YouTube, I know he can get a little long winded, but he covers all the quirks in the kit. Ron G
  10. Hey Carl Heller makes a stug iii with shurzen in 1/16 scale. It's pretty close to the Das Werks in detail. Ron G
  11. Hey Carl I have that kit. It cost me $400.00 dollars back about 10 years ago. It's basically one of there 1/35 scale kits enlarged to 1/6 scale. They even enlarged the thickness of the plastic walls! The detail is like you would imagine if you scaled up all the small pieces to 1/6, they just wouldn't be right. Ron G
  12. The only real way is to buy a RC one like Hen long, with out the radio stuff, but it would need a lot of work to mzke it look good. I'm hoping for an Andys HHQ also, but I'm not holding my breath. Ron G
  13. Oh oh! Carl they have dad syndrome, very infectious and hard to cure...lol Ron G
  14. Hey all I'm back with more updates. I just purchased a Rye Fields Models 1/35 Tiger 1 with full interior kit. I'm going to use it to scale up parts for the interior to 1/16 scale. So far I have the radio operators seat done. Here are some pictures. This view shows the 1/35 scale parts in tan and my scratch built ones in white. This is a view from a different angle. View of the seat looking down on it. This view from the side shows the spare machine gun barrel case on the far side of the seat cushion. This view shows the radio operators back rest. View of the back rest from the rear. This view shows how the two 1/35 assemblies mount in the tank hull. This view shows how my custom made parts fit in the hull. There will be some more items added to this area latter on. This view of the rear mud flap shows the modified cross hole I added to correct the kit part to the correct version of early flap. This is the other side and how the left flap looked before I modified it. This view shows the rear convoy light. I modified it by adding the two tube pieces over the light on each end. The hole on the right side is for the electrical cable to the light. This view shows how it will look in place on the tank. Well that's it for now be back with more updates soon. Ron G
  15. Yeah I get it, 1/16th isn't for everyone. For me as I get older and my eyesight gets worse, I have been moving up in scale. 1/48 to 1/32 to 1/24 now to 1/16, boy if my eyes get any worse I'll be working on 1 to1, gheesh! As for detail, my Trumpeter Panzer IV Ausf H is very detailed, as far as I'm concerned. The 1/16 Tiger VI Ausf E is very detailed. Yeah the tool clamps don't open/close, but you can make them work, very difficult if not impossible in 1/35. They do take up alot of space in a cabinet or shelf, therefore why I said there not for everyone. Ron G
  16. Hey all Andys Hobbys Headquarters has announced a new kit from Takom. A WW2 German 1/16 sdkfz 251/1 ausf d. He said it has full interior detail. And its on preorder right know for $109.99.
  17. You sure got that right Ernie. These are my first armor kits since I was a boy (65 years ago)! Wow how time flies. I've never tried weathering any armor, I barley knew how to do aircraft weathering. Ron G
  18. Hey Ernie I've been back, kinda lurking in the corners so to speak. Check out my 1/16 Andys HHQ Tiger 1 build and my 1/16 Trumpeter Panzer IV ausf H builds. They haven't been easy to do with my eyes messed up like they are, but I'm muddling through them, lol. Ron G
  19. This is looking great Ernie. Fine work as usual. Ron G
  20. No problem Carl, I'm glad AFV did the flange, as I screwed mine up, based on the photos of his part. I purchased a Rye Field Models 1/35 #5050 Tiger 1 kit, full interior. I plan on using it as a guide on creating some of the interior parts on the 1/16th kit. I'm not going to glue anything together on it, but I may have to remove some parts from the sprues in order to scale them up for my build. So if your interested I'll be selling it when I'm done. Here's a picture of the kit Ron G
  21. Better but not perfect. I'll know more in a couple of weeks.
  22. Hey Carl I just got mine from AFV, also I got the Tiger 1 exhaust caps you get both styles. Hurry I think there's 1 left! Ron G
