  1. I still have tie downs to go for the storage rack but thought I would hold off for now as I thought I would knock them off. I thought I would try a thin layer of epoxy putty on the bottom of the tie downs instead of super glue. Just something for a stronger bond.
  2. Did some more soldering of the photo etch. Starting to get the hang of the process.
  3. With the heat wave this weekend I spent some time working on the Sherman. Started putting on the pioneer tool tie downs and tool holders. Attached some of the tool supports so the tools can be removed and painted. Also started on the storage rack photo etch. Still have to added one side of the cleaning rod holders. Going to make the cleaning rods from brass tubbing. Felt good to get more done.
  4. Great idea. I will try that Thanks!
  5. Did some more work yesterday. The turret is nearly finished. Just need to add cast texture, sighting on top of the turret, hatch handles and periscope covers and guards. Speaking of periscope guards I have two kinds, plastic ones (only two) and photo etch. I kind of like the plastic one, the photo etch seem too thin. Any thoughts? also did the inside of the commanders hatch. Found old drawings of the interior the metal barrel is too heavy and points down, I will have to try and glue it in place.
  6. Replaced the top of the antenna mount with brass tube so I slide the antenna in later and do not have to try and glue it and make a mess.
  7. I had looked at some online but nothing caught my eye as interesting but I had not seen these two before. These might change my mind.
  8. I would love to see a manufacturer make an M4 and include a full interior.
  9. Did some work on the turret and hatch details. Included padding for the hatch and inner ring. Also cleaned of the tools of the molded attachment points. Going to use photo etch holders and straps.
  10. Great work. One of these days I need to try a wing nuts kit. I think doing the rigging is holding me back. Doing the antenna’s on WWII aircraft is my week spot. Everything looks great.
  11. This is the first time I am using the metal tracks but I find them easier to assemble than plastic tracks. So far they stay together better too. The real test will be putting them on the model. Hoping it will be easier to get a good fit.
  12. I did one road wheel disc style. I figured it was enough to make it interesting but I could not find any actual pictures with a mix of road wheel types so I kept in minimal. The vision port holders for the periscopes does anyone know if they were painted olive drab or were natural metal?
  13. Finally got some more work done. Put together the Suspension filling the seams at the top and front. Priming and painting.
  14. Cleaned up all the bogies, primed and painted them. Next step is to assemble them and sand the seams at the top.
  15. Worked on the drive sprocket cleaning up the joint. Then started cleaning the MasterClub T54 tracks and put a few of them together to see if they fit in the sprocket. They fit perfectly. I have not used metal tracks before but these go together very easily. Also did some soldering of the periscope housing. Hopefully I will get to more this week.
  16. Did a little more work. Cleaned up the wheels and individual suspension parts. Trying to decide two things and want to see what others think first is the type of wheels. I was thinking of using one dish style. Figuring the actual tanks had damaged ones and would replace with whatever was available Second, should I add the small bolts around the outer part of the wheel. I put two on one of the wheels (the white bits in the wheel)
  17. Hi everyone, this is my first time posting a project on line. I thought I would share my build and hopefully get some feedback and suggestion. Always looking to improve my modelling. So here I go. Going to be building the 1/35 M4A3 (76)W Sherman by Asuka. I wanted to try one as I have heard they are the best around. Two days after I got it I found Meng is coming out with the same one. I did not see a release date but from the sounds of it, it will be similar to the Asuka kit. Looking forward to see the reviews of it. Other than the kit I have the following after market items: Def Model 76mm M1A1C barrel Def Model M4 basic detail set Eduard M4A3 Sherman set Archer M4A3 casting symbols Def Model Wooden ration box letter decal set Def Model Ammunition box letter decal set Quick Wheel Sherman -Tasca set I have starting putting it together. Completed putting together the tub and the differential housing. A couple pictures but hope to do some more work today.
