Nice to see these F1 kits on here. It looks like you've made a great start to it. Carl -
I definitely consider myself fortunate to have an LHS that is not only fairly close by but also well stocked and having a knowledgeable staff. I picked up another of the limited edition kits. It still has the tissue paper wrapping. I'm thinking of finding decals for the blue camo schemes if I can. Carl

Rob, Blade Runner is my absolute favourite movie. I wasn't old enough to see it in theatres when it first came out. A local TV station every New Year's Day showed is as the first thing after the count down was done so I'd watch it then. Sue surprised me a few years ago and got us tickets to see it in a theatre. That was great. Hopefully you can find a kit as it's probably the only one that will ever get issued.

Bronco 1/35 Type XXIII U-boot
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Well, some good news. My Post-It notes masking worked. I did a section at a time and got the upper hull painted. There's a couple small touch ups to do but that's it. No more major paint lifts. While that dried, I started adding the detail bits to the conning tower. That's almost done and ready for a coat of paint. I'm going to prime it with some Tamiya first before I do the colour coat. -
The passion is definitely there I'd say. Can't wait to see the pics Peter. Carl

I stopped by the LHS yesterday and they had a pile of these in. I was. Very tempted but then the shop clerk said they had one ZM F-4EJ left so I grabbed that. I also picked up a Takom Panzer III for $29 CAD they had on clearance.

Very nice looking Tempest Dennis. -
That's the only concern that Sue has too. That I might somehow actually finish what's in my stash.

Careful Martin. They're highly addictive. Plus you can build so many different variants from them.

Some would a 12 gauge pump loaded with bird shot but if you do find something let me know.

I've got Tamiya Primer in a jar here as well as Mr Surfacer just need to use them. Not only that but I'll have more hair in the paint than I do normally from the pets. -

Thanks Gaz! I thought of that when the first bit of paint lifted. This is the first time I've had paint lift since Model Master acrylic first came out and became SOP for that brand. -
The only thing wrong is he's quite exceptional at it. So it helps to level the odds a bit Domestic cats kill a high number of wild birds so we're just trying to minimize his impact there. It also helps identify him as he wanders the neighbourhood.

Thanks Harv! I ran into a small hiccup. I masked off the lower hull and sprayed the black waterline mark. The port side came out fine. The starboard side I had a bit of paint lift. Not sure why that happened. But the bigger issue was how to fix it. I decided to try Post-It notes and fixed a section at a time. For the upper hull, I think I'm going to have to try some seriously de-tacked tape and hope for the best. -

So a small update. I finally got the rest of the dark grey on. I ended up usng a different pre-shading approach. I decided to do vertical stripes of a darker grey and then sprayed over everything with the final colour. I think it works better than what I was doing before. You can see what I've done on the upper hull. Now to mask it off and start on the upper hull main colour. -

Mine arrived today. Here's a couple pics of them. They're very nice castings. Well worth it. I've now got everything I need for my build so it may be time to try a 4 engine heavy. Carl -
Actually it's a cat bib. It's supposed to help reduce their chances at catching birds. Supposed to anyways. Doesn't impede his skills at catching rats and mice though.
