  1. Thankfully she hasn't realized it's Mossie #3.
  2. I had Canada Post deliver a package today. It was a Tamiya Mosquito. Sue asked how many models do I order in a month that they're delivering them on a Sunday now... Carl
  3. It is nicely done. Really gives it that cast metal feel. I got the upper hull on. The hull shape is not what I expected without the fenders and such on. The suspension arms are all done now too.
  4. I got a bunch of kits from him as well for Findlay and Edward. They're still debating who gets to build what. Such wonderful generosity. Thanks bud!!! Carl
  5. Happy belated birthday Rog!
  6. Yeah but the Defender is worth too much to strafe. At least in the US. Unless it's an illegal import where it'll get crushed instead. Carl
  7. Really nice work Jeroen and a good recovery from the paint lifting too. I think the worst paint for lifting was Model Master acrylic. It constantly came off in chunks. Gave up on it pretty quick.
  8. No kidding. I guess I just figured they were lost and didn't even check the sprues initially.
  9. I know, I know. I was supposed to start back on the He219 now that the railcar is finished but I found another forgotten build and started up on it instead. It's the AVF Club M60A2. I thought I'd lost some parts to it which is why I'd stopped working on it. Turns out they weren't lost but still on the sprues.
  10. Time to call this one done. I added the last couple of parts, gave the deck a light weathering and it's ready for cargo. One thing for sure if anyone else wants to build this kit. Get some ABS cement for the construction. The Tamiya Extra Thin works but the bonds are weak. I kept popping seams and parts fell off constantly. I ended up using CA glue to finish the build. . Carl
  11. So true. I'm fairly confident in saying I have the only metallic orange Honda Beat in the world. The car was repainted prior to my buying it and I love the colour.
  12. Looks like you made out better than I did. I tried to fix a scratch on our Honda Fit and got a bit too aggressive with the compound. There's a 3" strip of primer showing on the door now. At least it's glossy smooth.
  13. Ok, the decals are on. They have a very flat finish to them and I wasn't sure how they'd work but I think they turned out ok. Once you gave them a light squeeze, they would stick in place and nothing you could do after would get them to move so a couple are slightly off. I also assembled the track bed. It's going to need a but of touch up but in the meantime, here's a quick mock up. There's just a few more parts remaining and it'll be done.
  14. Looks good John. I'm always impressed by the glossiness of your finishes. Carl
  15. CP Airlines? Don't think I ever flew on their planes. Did fly with Canadian a couple times.
  16. Whoops. Our basement is too small to have a place to hide kits. Sue was down there today while I was at work. She was worried we might flood again so she was rolling up the carpet in my work area. So definitely no hiding stuff from her. Unless it's in plain sight. If you do decide to get something to see her reaction, my vote is for the Trumpeter 1/48 U-boat.
  17. A quick update. I painted the edges of the deck and the buffers. I have also started on adding some chipping and wear along the edges of the railcar. I'm using a silver Prismacolour pencil for this.
  18. I've built two so far. Ernie pushed me to try building a WNW kit (any biplane actually) and if he hadn't, I probably would never have tried rigging something. So thank you Ernie!!! I still have a couple in the stash plus the Silverwings Hart to get back to. I've even bought a Curtis P6 Hawk of my own volition. That has to be my favourite biplane. As for collecting, I have maybe two kits in my stash I bought from a collection standpoint. One was accidental.
  19. No kidding. Phil, see if she can drive standard. That's another skill that's dying out.
  20. This looks amazing Ron. You're just powering through this. Carl
  21. I've given the deck a clear coat and then a very thinned wash of black over the whole surface. I used Mr Color Weathering Color multi black thinned 10:1 with their solvent. It's not as dark as it seems in the photos but I think it helps tie things together. Carl
  22. I think Sue would notice. Especially if it ended up motorized and ran around the house. Plus I'm not sure the cats would approve.
  23. Thanks Ernie! I don't think I've ever felt that I had to stick to one subject. Too many things are interesting or catch my eye. Which can be a problem in and of itself. But it makes it fun. Speaking of fun, it's buggy season! I picked these up the other day. The Avante was a must as it's an homage to an RC car I had as a kid. The Beetle was too good a price to pass up on. TamiyaUSA has it on sale for $169 but I was able to get it locally for roughly $135. Still can't figure that price out but whatever. As different as they may look, they use an almost identical chassis except the Beetle has portal axles that simply attach to the suspension arms. Tamiya is probably the master at milking the various RC parts and chassis they've made over the years for maximum return.
