Roger's Large Scale RAAF/RAN Research thread
BlrwestSiR replied to Artful69's topic in Modelling Discussion
The Avionix set is a rebox of the True Details one from my understanding so that's good to know. Aires does a C cockpit but it has parts for the A 'pit as well (just the one panel). No idea on the fit quality or lack there. Wolfpack does one too as you know. The CF-18 version won't be too different from the Aussie one which is one of the reasons we're buying them from Australia. For the Kinetic Hawk, there are specific PE sets for the Aussie cockpits which makes things easier.. -
There's lots of stuff that people would love to see in plastic. Everyone has their own particular interests. I mean I'm still waiting for a 1/32 CF-100 (as would Ernie I'm sure). I would even settle for a 1/32 CF-105. It's not that much bigger after all. That being said, the manufacturers have to make what they can pretty much guarantee will sell. The guys running them have their own favorite subjects too I'm sure. Sometimes it's the kit that draws you in too. I never had the biggest interest in the Spitfire model wise until the Tamiya 1/32 kits came out. I've now built 8 of them, with #9 on the bench and two more in the stash. Carl

Finishing the Fisher AD-5W Guppy.

What a great idea Ernie! I've got a couple Fisher kits in the stash so may just join you down the road. I've got: - Sea Fury - X-1A - Twogar Plus both of the Crusader conversions. For the Twogar, mine had the intake lips broken off and lost to the ether. I asked Paul if I could buy a replacement lower wing from him. Turned out that this was a fairly common occurrence and he had a mould for just the intake lips. He cast up a pair and sent them out the week before the fire. Unfortunately Canada Post then went on strike and they never showed up.... Carl -

The original release does, along with SAC soft metal landing gear (not recommended that you use those). This is the one I have. Carl -

Rog, I've got the Kinetic kit with the correct tails and resin intakes and burner cans for sale at the moment. Big question would be shipping to Australia from Canada. If you want to PM me I can try and get an estimate for you. Carl -
well the Nationals cost me a bit more than spending money

That's so disappointing to hear. -
Thinking of a new build, but different.

Definitely out of left field with that one Ernie. For a moment, I thought you might say CF-105. Carl -

They're 1 1/2 ton jack stands. The car is half that. Maybe. With two passengers. And a dog. -
A Jaeger for me... ...brushes for my boys.

Ryan, I'm with Harv. It's probably Tamiya's best 1/32 kit. Harv, I have to get this one fixed first before I worry about finding the other skate -

Most of you know I've got a car that pretty much qualifies as an LSM... After 12 years of ownership, I felt it was due for a timing belt change. Now I know why most garages wouldn't touch it. Got some great help from a good friend and my neighbour too but it looks like it'll be a two day job as the crank pulley is stuck on tight. No more mid engine cars for me Carl -

Really nice work on the engine Ryan. So hard to make black not look stark. Carl -

Thanks Rob! This one made it over the finish line. Although it took a couple tries on the weathering. -
I'll have to try that on my F-4

Well at least you can store it with the wings off if needed. Beyond that, it looks fantastic. Carl -
Is that the Black Box cockpit? I've got one for the E in my stash. Either way, it looks good to me. The one in my CT-133, that needs some work.

2021 IPMS USA Nats in Las Vegas, Nv.
BlrwestSiR replied to Clunkmeister's topic in General Discussion
Well I asked my wife what she thought and she said we can entertain the idea. She's been to Vegas previously but much prefers the desert versus the strip so at least there's something for her. If thing don't change, I'm sure my boys will be happy to go with me to the show. They're always happy when they go to the LHS with me. Which would mean one day with family at the show and one day on my own. Carl -

That's crazy and not someone who should be in retail sales. I had the opposite happen at a Honda dealership once. They had a brand new Acura in the used department as they had closed their sister Acura dealership. It was a current model so out of curiosity I asked how much and was told $26K for a $33K car. I said "What?!! $26K are you kidding??!!!". The sales guy replies "Ok, $25K then!". I should have bought it. Carl -
Well, 2021 is my 50th so maybe I can work something out and go. Especially if it's near the beginning of the month when my birthday is. Never been to Vegas either so that's another reason. Carl
