  1. Looks fantastic Mark. As for forgetting bits, I have a Revell Spitfire missing an entire cockpit side panel. Didn't notice it until about a week after I was done. Carl
  2. Nice progress there Tony. I'm all too familiar with the rework as I'm doing the same thing on my CT-133. Carl
  3. Ok, I managed to get the antiglare panel and the radome painted. Were the wheel wells silver or chromate green? Those are up next.
  4. Thanks for posting those Rick. I'm hoping to tackle this kit at some point. Carl
  5. If someone does, I'd probably have to bet one and the WNW kit. There's a shopping mall here in Toronto that used to have a very large pair of models (at least 1/2 actual size) of Snoopy in a Camel and a Fokker Triplane hanging from the ceiling. Still don't know the context of the display but it was always cool to see.
  6. Absolutely gorgeous Ernie! Have fun at the show and tell us what else you find. Carl
  7. So if one DID want to build the Snoopy nemesis, which kit would be the better starting point? Does it even make an appearance in any of the Peanuts cartoon strips to identify the type? Carl
  8. It may not be a true NMF but I think it comes close enough without all the headache. There was a C-119 at the shop one of the staff had done using the same paint and it had the same finish as mine. So definitely not a fluke.
  9. I wonder if they have decided to announce new kits when they're much closer to release as they got quite a bit of flak over the delays to the Lanc. At the LHS yesterday we were brainstorming what the new release could be. I was thinking Grand Slam Lanc as that wouldn't be too hard.
  10. Thanks Martin! There's a small bit of overspray I need to fix but otherwise there were no issues with the paint. No lift, no marking from the tape. It came off nice and clean.
  11. Well, the tape is off and... I'd say it's a much better result this time.
  12. Very nice build there John. I've got my own Shelf of Doom project on the bench at the moment so I can definitely appreciate the sense of satisfaction of getting them done. Maybe a Corsair for your next build? Carl
  13. Ok, red is on. Now to let it dry and see what I have.
  14. I know! That's why it's back. I've started a WiP if you want to see the gory details. Carl
  15. Here's one that tried to bum a ride in our car a few years ago.
  16. Rob, so far just metallic silver. I might be a bit late on trying a test first though: That being said, when I had to reposition some of the tape, there wasn't any paint lifting or other issue. So fingers crossed it works out.
  17. Harv, my understanding is it's an acrylic lacquer. So it's smells stronger than Tamiya acrylics but maybe not as strong as Mr Color does. It dries pretty quick .The LHS said to thin it with Mr Leveling Thinner so that's what I've been using. Definitely not a water soluble paint.
  18. Works for me. Carl
  19. Thanks Rob! I'm really happy with the paint. It's nice and opaque and seems fairly tough. The LHS said you can mask over it without any issues. I guess I'll find out soon enough. As for the Mossie, I didn't really have a choice. The first try ended up way too dark and uniform. I painted it the same way the actual aircraft was. They sprayed a thin coat of dark sea grey over the original Ocean Grey/Dark Green camo. The second attempt pulled off exactly the look I wanted.
  20. Perhaps something with a squirrel in it?
  21. Okay I finished the silver for the fuselage. Now to mask off and do the dayglow panels. I think it'll work much better this way.
  22. I tried the primer trick once before on my Seafire 47 (another slightly abandoned project) and it worked well enough there. It works well to replace the raised panels I had sanded off. As for the stripping, it was best done outside as the smell of the lacquer thinner would be overpowering. Thankfully Tamiya lacquer thinner is cool enough it won't melt plastic. I've even used it to strip and repaint canopies.
  23. Ok, I spent the early evening fixing the putty work. This mostly involved spraying some Mr Surfacer onto the wing root areas to recreate the slightly raised panels Then once that dries, I sprayed some silver. I'm using Tru-Color Metallic Silver. So far it's been spraying really great. Not as smelly as Mr Color. No black base coat as per what my LHS said using the paint. Just straight onto the plastic.
  24. Thanks Harv. Should be interesting. Hopefully this time I can finish it. Isn't that the truth. I had to strip my Mossie when the top coat ended up too opaque. It came out much better the second time around. Which is what I hope happens here.
