  1. Nice work on the Starfighter Ralph. Definitely a kit from an earlier time. Are you planing any special markings or just a line jet? Lovely looking RV there too. Carl
  2. Fantastic build. The Tomcat is my favourite jet so I'm always happy to see one.
  3. More painting done. Going to need some touch-ups.
  4. Thanks Hubert! Yes, the one side bulges a bit more. I'm going to try and sand it down so they're a better match.
  5. With the primer dry, I started painting the Spook. The spray booth had a slight blockage that needed clearing first. Once cleared, I painted his cape.
  6. With @CANicoll's F-4 ongoing build in the Twins GB, it was making me want to work on one. I found a Phantom in the stash and gave it a start.
  7. Scott, that really is great news. Onwards with the speedy recovery.
  8. That looks great. A very satisfying feeling when one pulls off a complicated paint scheme.
  9. I got the putty sanded to what I hope is the final shape. The light grey is Apoxie Sculpt, the dark grey Mr Surfacer 500 and the white is styrene sheet. To see how the contours look and make it easier to spot any imperfections, I sprayed a coat of Mr Surfacer 1200. I'm happy with the overall shape of things. There's a few more imperfections to take care of and then I can start engraving the panel lines.
  10. Thanks folks! It'll definitely be unique once it's done.
  11. Some nice progress Chris. The gear legs were a bit of a pain with the mixed media approach Tamiya took. Aerocraft makes replacement ones in brass but then you have a seam line in brass to deal with so pick your poison.
  12. What a beast of a tank. Kitty killer indeed.
  13. I finally found all the parts to the Spinosaurus model I bought a while back. My son had taken it after I had assembled it and it disappeared into the void known as his room. Then parts of it would turn up. Compared to the T-Rex I did earlier this year. Both are the same scale. The Spinosaurus has much better fit as it was the last dinosaur model released by Pegasus.
  14. I finally got a 1/16 Stug III kit. This one was cheaper than the original release so that's what I picked.
  15. Nice drill bit set and pin vise Paul. Still buying up the world's supply of Fruil tracks too. Rob, I have a couple Tamiya pin vises. Not sure if you're aware but both have double sided collets. They're reversible with one side opening larger than the other.
  16. Lots more putty work. To get an idea if I was getting closer to the desired shapes, I slathered on a thick coat of Mr Surfacer 500. I left this to dry for a bit and then started sanding. The topside is about there. I need to fill some imperfections but it's close. The bottom side needs a lot more work. There's some significant voids and cavities to fill and then smooth out.
  17. As I mentioned in the Gallery, great job on the F-14. The hi-vis era really produced some of the best markings for the plane. Lightly weathered, not abused is to me the usually way to go as well.
  18. Thanks Dennis. I see yours has the same crack in the fuselage mine does which adds to my theory that maybe the fuselage was a bit too thin.
  19. I got the cockpit painted. I did a light dry brush to bring out some of the details. Next up I added the pilot. Then it was time for the canopy. Sadly there's no masking set for this kit so I had to do it the old fashioned way. Finally a bit more paint. Not sure if the camo shows up or not.
  20. Great looking Tomcat Peter. Can't wait to see the next one. Carl
  21. Ron, some amazing work there. It's great to see you and Jeff both sharing your projects.
  22. Congrats to your son! Yeah, Capt Dan doesn't quite roll off the tongue like Lt Dan does.
  23. Paul, I hadn't thought of a hair dryer. I have one at my bench for decals so I can give that a try. Gus, that's a good point. At least the halves seem to be the same length. That wasn't the case with the HpH Me410 I had.
  24. Thanks Dennis. That's good to know. I think it may be due to the fuselage halves being so thin.
  25. Thankfully no. There's no intake trunks so I just wanted to paint the back part flat black before installing the intake. Like so: And now the intakes themselves.
