  1. Jeff, they're very nice engines. I have the same set for one of my Mossies. I've read there is an issue in that apparently they're the wrong type of Merlin for the Mossie. Something to do with details on the supercharger. I'm not sure how visible it is. That being said, it's not going to stop me from using them once I get to that build.
  2. As a follow-up, I heard from Hobbyeasy and they are getting a replacement set sent to me, either directly from SOL or from them, whichever is fastest
  3. In case folks here missed it: There's a great looking J7 Shinden in the film too.
  4. This looks like a must see.
  5. We should. That could be fun.
  6. A test fit of the main gun barrel. Not sure if this thing would have been able to turn the corner in a city.
  7. I've been slowly chipping away at painting the various bits and bobs that are fitted to the tank. I've found it easier to mask them off the tank and then add them on. The tracks are on too.
  8. Thanks @PanzerWomble! Ammo do a Berlin Brigade paint set which is what I'm using. Makes it easier.
  9. Ernie, the door is both sides. Three doors in total per nacelle. I suspect they missed it because they only open when the gear retracts or extends. One thing most folks forget is the B-25 and Meteor were both designed for another company but HK took them over. There was a Dutch company involved which did the research and design but something went awry and HK took over the project under their own brand.
  10. Ernie, here's the pic I have from my build. Looks like they missed the large main doors. They just need to scribed in. Hopefully you can make them out in the pic. The seam between the nacelle halves should be the door edge as well. Here's a link to my album with my build pics. Feel free to see if you can find anything else that's useful for your build. https://carlkung.smugmug.com/Hobbies/HK-B-25J- HK definitely have come a long way since their first kits.
  11. All closed and getting closer to paint. Yup, the radial engines are a bit of a pain but they look the business once they're done. I think the nacelles need some re-scribing to correct the MLG doors if I recall?
  12. Peter, this will be a different build to watch. Never seen one of these before nor the show so both will be a new one for me.
  13. Gunze and now Tamiya both make a metal primer that's clear and brushes on. They're both self leveling too which is nice. On a sheet of brass PE, you can see it changes the colour of the metal slightly so I suspect it's self etching but not 100% sure.
  14. Happy Chinese New Year folks! It's been a busy couple days as a result so I haven't had as much bench time. I did get the seams all cleaned up. It needed a fair bit of touch up. The engine nacelles are now glued on as well.
  15. This will be fun to watch.
  16. Fold a piece of card and tape to the fuselage so it covers the nose gear leg. That should help prevent it from getting banged into.
  17. That should be fun. I was looking at a TIE Fighter myself.
  18. Well, it was in the first Transformers movie...
  19. Looks like it's a day for 1/16 accessories. My SOL set for the AHHQ Achilles arrived today too along with some landing gear for the Tamiya F-35B. Unfortunately the SOL set is a complete mess. The quality looks very nice but the M2 is missing the entire breech/body of the gun. Upon closer inspection, the storage set looks to be for the M10 version as it doesn't match the box top at all. What's there looks nice but won't work on the Achilles. It's US equipment rather than the British stuff I need. I've contacted the seller so we'll see what they say. As for the landing gear set, this will let one build the F-35-B the way it looks on the box art, with the nose off the deck and the front oleo fully extended. Should make for a nice display.
  20. Thanks folks! The encouragement is helping me continue to work on this kit. I did a quick prime to check the various seams. Looks like there's going to be more filling and scribing in my future.
  21. Wow, that is going to an amazing build.
  22. When I sold the decals I ended up doing my Hill Grey one as an homage to Chico. I did the same basic loadout except with an extra SUU-23 under the belly. Apparently this was flight tested once...
  23. Looks good there Martin. Definitely a weathered finish. What's the airbrush issues you're having?
  24. Nice work Jeroen. The flange you made really adds a finishing touch to the nacelle. The Kits World panel is quite a disappointment the way it looks.
  25. Nice start Rog. Thanks for showing us the box contents and what the kit is like. I wonder if some of the plastic might be ABS. Tamiya mixes plastics on some of their kits. I've built one Beemax kit (their 1/24 Celica rally car) and can relate to some of your comments about slightly vague parts location. Looking forward to your next update.
