  1. It does not look bad or that you had problems from my perspective Peter.I had started spaying the interior of Revell's MkIX the other night and lo an behold I found another MkIX in the cabinet last night.....another Quinta kit
  2. Thanks Peter it's been a Good Teacher.
  3. I picked up this kit last summer over in John's neck of the woods in LA at a modelling contest(P/U to many) in I think Covington,LA.This build will absolutely be OOB I want speed and completion.I will let the pictures speak for themselves their are 1/32 not this big!
  4. I say maybe 2/4hrs left on this one.I have added angle braces to the starboard side to three stanchions, added chain to the stern and added chain to port.I still have three angle braces for port, flat coat, glass for Kalotte, anchor and rigging. The final stage will be the hull weathering and another flat it will be light.
  5. Thanks John it's been a love/hate thing at times the worst part ditching the 37mm for the twins in the middle the twin was a beotch. I will be glad when completed Mike in how you probably felt with the Wildcat.I find two or three months on a build and I shelf it till I ready to come back luckily this one has kept my interest with different scratch/add-ons.
  6. Thanks Rookie their have been days I want to move on. Appreciate that Gary still have to play with hull some see if I can screw the pooch? I am definitely starting to see and feel it's coming Peter it's becoming a struggle to go at this point "Do I really need that PE" I really do like the effects of the chain and it's scale works out to one link is 1" long.
  7. I saw some of the news reports last night some good winds and hail coming out of it.My ole Ford's an 89 white needs paint 302,5spd and 370posi out back has 140K original work horse.Stay safe out there it's always bigger in TX.
  8. Dave is the prop painted or the decal for the wood grain?Looks very Nice and Convincing.
  9. Back to bore you Gents some moreI am seeing daylight.
  10. Thanks for the input Peter I did try on a section of painting the wire best to leave it be.
  11. I have already fixed that set of stanchions Guys but something about the silver to bright give me some thoughts.
  12. I am not through with the weathering still got the sides of the hull to go.I do not have much more to add to the fore deck mainly just the anchor which I plan to repaint probably black/gray.I went what I thought was light on the rust using a rubber paint brush Nice and Pointy.I just had to start on the railings lesson learned glue in play bottom rung first and attach carefully the bottom wire gets the alignment done straight every thing else falls into place.
  13. Nice Kit if you remember built the A-26
  14. Yeah Scott I grew up on the Ms Gulf Coast and the GOM all my life been elsewhere always came back I like being around water. My Son and I are both big History buffs and the D-Day Museum is a treat always expanding like the NAS in Pensacola but it's just not safe in my book and I luv the Ole N.O.. The paint is awesome Scott I started on the Revell Spitfire MkIX tonight with the interior good coverage and flat as hell/smooth.I hope to do the whole plane in Mr.Hobby.I think if all goes well I have have found my transition paint from Model Master granted I still have a bunch for WWII Luft planes but the American/Brit is getting slim.I went 60/40 thinner the 60 @18psi
  15. So what is the ratio for paint to thinner? my LHS is 1hr away Scott in Mobile in New Orleans on the W.Side is a really Nice shop but you will not catch me N.O. ATTM unless I go armed.
  16. So Scott you got me to buy in to Mr.Color I bought about 10 bottles and the leveling thinner for the RAF in the stash. PS:you know how hard it is to walk out of a LHS without a kit..........? Impossible walked with the Hase 1/32 Hellcat $40.
  17. Simple things in life make it worth wild for me in the water waist high as the Sun rises in the GOM with a pole.
  18. Like the looks of that Gary all is coming along well.
  19. Might consider right now in it's life let's say the boat is about 6 months into operations methinks if I do bow/stern?
  20. Thks Chris I moved onto the foredeck started one torpedo tube was to stark wiped it down thinking powders is my usual on the sides of ships.I think it will be the choice for the greens and scuffs from docking the gunwale.
  21. Gary had asked about some 1/400 PE to witch I recommended Tom's ModelWorks Tom passed some years back but I think the Wife and the existing crew carry it forward.I built the Pola first using rails and ladders ad hock let's say and bought the kit for the Graf Spee she is outfitted with the extra MG's requires on fore/aft decks for River Plate. These build have got to be 15yrs old.
  22. It looks better in person than the photos show different angles show different colors like the rear deck has brown blended in looks best I guess 30' angle from the deck.I am not trying to kill the ship enhance and highlight. We should see progress daily this week with off hope not to bore you guys.
  23. I used it for the Graf Spre worked out well.
