  1. Nice Kit if you remember built the A-26
  2. Yeah Scott I grew up on the Ms Gulf Coast and the GOM all my life been elsewhere always came back I like being around water. My Son and I are both big History buffs and the D-Day Museum is a treat always expanding like the NAS in Pensacola but it's just not safe in my book and I luv the Ole N.O.. The paint is awesome Scott I started on the Revell Spitfire MkIX tonight with the interior good coverage and flat as hell/smooth.I hope to do the whole plane in Mr.Hobby.I think if all goes well I have have found my transition paint from Model Master granted I still have a bunch for WWII Luft planes but the American/Brit is getting slim.I went 60/40 thinner the 60 @18psi
  3. So what is the ratio for paint to thinner? my LHS is 1hr away Scott in Mobile in New Orleans on the W.Side is a really Nice shop but you will not catch me N.O. ATTM unless I go armed.
  4. So Scott you got me to buy in to Mr.Color I bought about 10 bottles and the leveling thinner for the RAF in the stash. PS:you know how hard it is to walk out of a LHS without a kit..........? Impossible walked with the Hase 1/32 Hellcat $40.
  5. Simple things in life make it worth wild for me in the water waist high as the Sun rises in the GOM with a pole.
  6. Like the looks of that Gary all is coming along well.
  7. Might consider right now in it's life let's say the boat is about 6 months into operations methinks if I do bow/stern?
  8. Thks Chris I moved onto the foredeck started one torpedo tube was to stark wiped it down thinking powders is my usual on the sides of ships.I think it will be the choice for the greens and scuffs from docking the gunwale.
  9. Gary had asked about some 1/400 PE to witch I recommended Tom's ModelWorks Tom passed some years back but I think the Wife and the existing crew carry it forward.I built the Pola first using rails and ladders ad hock let's say and bought the kit for the Graf Spee she is outfitted with the extra MG's requires on fore/aft decks for River Plate. These build have got to be 15yrs old.
  10. It looks better in person than the photos show different angles show different colors like the rear deck has brown blended in looks best I guess 30' angle from the deck.I am not trying to kill the ship enhance and highlight. We should see progress daily this week with off hope not to bore you guys.
  11. I used it for the Graf Spre worked out well.
  12. https://www.tomsmodelworks.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=23_33&osCsid=5qa0sje30vbdoenveas9d0e7m7
  13. You would believe the beating these boats took Peter but trust me I am not that good it will be light. Rust around the T-hatches,mildew gunwale, highlights on the T-tubes loading area and such.Thks Peter/Chris
  14. Can you tell I am on Holiday?I keep pressing this one forward .I have added more to the bow section still need to add rails, anchor gaff pole. The Kalotte still needs bit and pieces to finish it out reason for no Future there yet.The bridge is done except for antennas and life rings.I start tomorrow with highlights and weathering wish me luck. The S-100's had more metal and heavier than the S-38's so rust but I am thinking a greenish grey for vertical streaks to the hull like algae and maybe the occasional oil?
  15. That 37mm looks like it means business Phil handles add alot.
  16. I still have to make up some more mags for the Quad. The torpedoes are are not glued in the cradles I made a square U 1/16" wide out of the .010" guitar wire and weaved it through the strap holes and trimmed.Snug fit. Thanks Peter I think once the stanchions hit the deck and the chain across the back will add quite abit to the look .....I Hope.
  17. The competition continues to rack up.She came out real Nice Peter.
  18. All I can say.........Crazy!!
  19. She is coming along Nicely Peter.
  20. Persistence persistence persistence has started paying off things have p/u a little speed today. The new middle battery is finished and glued in play the forward torpedo is glued the back tomorrow.I have moved on to the wheel house/cabin area just a few more trinkets and it gets glued sometime next week. The forward deck still needs much attention not just plastic but a little more PE here and there. My neighbor across the street plays electric guitar and gave me some 10gauge wire measures .010" better for the railings my other was .015"..I have some nice 3/4" scale chain for the back just needs to be blackened hopefully some of my gun stuff is still good not counting on it though might get my neighbor down the street who does wooden boats. That's it for now fellas.
  21. So that's what you have been working on in the back yard it always looked so suspicious from my side of the block?
  22. straight!!!!!!!!!
  23. All's looking good Martin but as to the props w/o them being side by side I would never notice the difference even side by side it's slight.I will continue with the HK props when I go to finish mine.
