I think Frank was on Malaya in 1933 ...I've a some pictures from the era and also his service history. Everything is getting packed up for the move, but if I can find it over the weekend I'll let you know more. Frank did 29 years in the RN ....my father (his son) completed 42 years , fifteen as a WO1 which is now virtually impossible to do. Started as a stoker , then artificer then FCMech . Mainly carriers . Tough men both of them

Able Seaman Francis K**** Photo taken when he served with the Fore Transmitting Station Crew aboard HMS Conqueror in 1914. A Transmitting Station (in Royal Navy parlance) is a room deep within a large ship where calculations pertaining to gunnery are worked and from which orders, ranges and deflections are transmitted to the guns. Joined as a boy sailer aged 16, in March 1914 , served in Conqueror throughout the war . Completed 22 years as a CPO in Dec 1938 .....recalled to service December 1939 . Further 5 years at sea , retired again 1947 as a WO1 . Spent all of his career involved in gunnery. Subtle cammo, nice one . I do like PZ IIIs , such a wide range of subjects to do from invasion of Poland , Russia , North Africa to Normandy .

Love the detail going into this build - the the sea looks good too . My grandfather was on board HMS Conqueror at Jutland. Captain's report at the time reads "The enemy was first observed at 6.25 p.m. and at 6.31 p.m., fire was opened on one of the ' Markgraf ' class—rough range, 12,000 yards. This ship quickly disappeared in the haze, and fire was shifted to a three-funnelled cruiser (probably the late 'Maravev-Amurski,')—rough range, 10,000 yards — shortly afterwards this ship dropped astern and passed out of sight.

Sorry to hear about the eyes , good luck next week . I like Takom's models , but their tracks aren't great IMHO . I don't know if metal ones are an option at 1/16 . For me - I find the drilling and pinning less bother than trying to glue guide horns or tiny pin ends.

More reasons to visit 😀, I was thinking HMS Unicorn , which I got to walk around some years ago . Used to be a great little Indian restaurant in the town as well .

A large bridge , quite a cute town centre and a no Interesting old wooden ship as well , least last time I was there 20 years ago

As off June 6th …yup D day , we will have left our home at Wheelers End cottage and moved to a bigger house in Brize Norton. So we swap Chinooks at nearby RAF Benson for Globemasters at Brize . Hopefully leaving enough time to unpack and do my F 4 for the wet GB

Continuing in the line of "try something differen"t .... making buildings in Qwerty not 35th scale.... Also found a likely scenario , the Battle for Geel in Belgium , 8 -23rd September , where us Brits ( 50th Inf Div) battled to a fro over the town of Geel with the Germans of 85th Inf , II Reg Falschy troops supported by Jagdpantherererers of the 559 SPzJAbt . Some period pics from Geel ATB attached too I'd never heard of this battle till I went looking, so happy again to learn something new. Yes those are C47s for Market Garden .. Church got a pasting , the spire taken out on approach as had became standard practice in France etc . Bloke out front with an odd looking helmet ...Belgian or Turtle Helmet ? Nice Churchill reference pic too , how much extra track ?...all of it .

A blast from the past ....1/25 Academy Motorizzzzzed done as a present for a mate 10 odd years ago . Very er ...clean for me 🤐....mind you it is a rug runner . Struggle to understand why people ask silly money for these now. ...it's kinda ropey /.

Maybe they could have a BBQ ....some crew for the Jagdkitten will be coming shortly too.

A bunch of micro Hans , Kurts und Gunthers ... I'm not much of a figure person , and these are just taken to basic paint . They'll get another session of tidying up, slings, mud etc for fitting to the scenario when I decide what they are up to . For IM, figures the sculpting is not bad , and I like the relaxed poses . These are Tamiya 32602 , tooled in 2021 . Still not sure where this is going . As much as it screams FRANCE , the kitty is probably a bit too late for that with no Zim on it ....no JPs at Arnhem ....these guys look too warm for the Bulge ...and I have a nervous tic about "late 1945" stuff as it is the realm of "what if's " and paper panzer nonsense so beloved of WOT people . Zuider Zee maybe as there was a JP unit in that general direction .

Eez going ok . Never built a 1/48 tank before ( apart from the lil Ba64 the other month for that dio) . 😃Last Jagdpanther I did was a 1/25 one . So far so good, I like using 30% less paint and glue ...more shelf space .....and although the cast metal hull is a bit of a gimmick, I personally like the weight . Detail is very Tamiya as is the great fit . L&L tracks were superb for fitting , Tamiya have really nailed this aspect IMHO . Fixed in one place suspension is the downside. Might do a little 1/48 dio......swearing will start with the figures no doubt.

Very quick build , top attached with a screw Night Shifts favourite primer Doingthe hull halves seperately Link n Lenght tracks is why ...I like there apart from the pin marks .. Top basic paint and filter And the fun starts here ..... PW
