  1. Looking forward to this Tom. Very generous of Cees as well. Landing gear is certainly going to be a challenge. Almost thought you'd get vertigo way up in the cockpit.
  2. I have a similar template set from Hasegawa and it's great for painting AFV wheels
  3. I think he did pay up Alan but it's too bloody late to replant the tree by then. Too many damn builders and developers just ignore preservation orders because once they've done it, they know there's not a lot that can be done. Also winds me up no end.
  4. Love crows, rooks and ravens. There was a large murder which used to roost in a big old chestnut tree at the edge of a field where we often walk our dogs. A local developer cut it down when building his house despite the planning consent explicitly saying it had to stay, so I take great delight when I walk past now and see them roosting on the roof of his house and sh**ing all over his cars! 😁
  5. Beautiful result Fran. Well worth inclusion in the magazine.
  6. Totally agree Rob, you have to listen to Tool on something quality. So many layers and Danny's drumming to drool over.
  7. You'd have thought with all that schlepping up and down Alps that the Gebirgsjager wouldn't have such pencil legs?? Or maybe it's just very baggy shorts! 😕
  8. Lovely painting Sasha, matches perfectly with the cowling.
  9. Gotta love a bit of Gary Larsson
  10. Thanks to all the Mods for sorting this out so efficiently. Don't these people have anything better to do...
  11. Unfortunately time never waits and there are fewer of this great generation left. Sounds like he had a remarkable life and career. Hadn't heard of Larkswood but looking it up it's an interesting story of high command once again not using special forces correctly.
  12. Hope you have a good one. 🍻
  13. Ah, I can sympathise. I've built the 911 CHET one and there are a lot of tyres on the trailer, never mind the tractor unit.
  14. Are you building a diorama of a tyre dump or a car park? 😄
  15. Looking really good Cees. Third picture gives a really good impression of the size, even in 48 scale it's a big beast.
  16. What type of bat is that Martin? We get lots round here but they're all pipistrelles.
  17. Hi Peter I've used Ammo paints extensively and the AK real colours on my Cheetah build and as Rob says the AK paints are very similar to Tamiya whereas the Ammo ones are far more like Vallejo, although in my experience a lot easier to work with. I've had great results with both but the Ammo finish is a bit fragile and needs careful handling after completion while the AK stuff seems bombproof. I wonder if your issues with the Ammo colours relates to their attempt to 'scale effect' the colours straight from the bottle as I sometimes find them also a little 'different' but I've never been too hung up exactness so have generally just gone with it. Results are looking good so far anyway! 👍
  18. Lovely work on the Lanc and the Stuka Kev. The bomb bay of the Lanc alone is as big as many kits!
  19. If the laser ignition tests that are on-going work then this will happen in the next 10-15 years. Once the energy gap is overcome it's just an engineering exercise where we've already solved most of the big headaches.
  20. Hi Phil, never tried the Vallejo version but I've used the Ammo equivalent and it makes getting decent modulation very simple. Also a good trick to get you to buy paint in 6 bottles at a time!
  21. Made a start on the base. Using air dry clay I've roughed out the base. Once this is dry I'll use a soil mix for the muddy areas and the Gero Design bricks seen at the left to recreate the roadway in the sunken central section. I know how I want it to look in my head, I just hope it works out.😕
  22. A dozen on the Famo and another half-dozen here, you're certainly going to get plenty of practice with the figure painting Phil!
  23. All four northern hemisphere teams winning on the same day. Wish I'd put a few quid on that as I suspect it was pretty long odds!
  24. Okay, so thanks to Jim fixing the picture upload issue I'll now have to show how bad my figure painting (and photography) is! This is as good as I'm going to get these and they look better in the flesh, at least from 5ft away, than they do here. My camera is stuffed so these are the best I could get with my phone. The Alpine miniatures commander was definitely easier to paint than the Miniart figures due to the crisper moulding. The shoulder badge on the commander was meant to be the Desert Rats but I've done my best to try and approximate the Bull of the 11th Armoured. So, next step into the unknown is on with the base....
  25. Thanks Jim, that's done the trick. Downside is now I'll have to show everyone how crap my figure painting is!
