Trumpeter F4F-3 Late - 1/32nd
GusMac replied to Bomber_County's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Been glorious up here all weekend Phil! Sorry to rub it in. 😁 I've built a few Trumpeter kits, A-7E, P-47D, Mig-23MF and have found them all fairly straightforward builds. Had more problems with the fit of the cowling parts on the Tamiya Spitfire for example. Yes, they all may have accuracy issues but they look close enough for me and the plastic I find quite nice to work with. However, I've read enough horror stories to avoid a few of their other offerings! -
Looking great Sasha. Love the profile on that final picture with the smooth curve from the tips of the tail to the main wing root.

That's a big beastie! Looks really good in that paint job Carl. -
If it's anything like the quality of the Cheetah C set I used you're in for a treat Carl. John is about to release a full resin kit of the Mirage F1 which is also mighty tempting.

Looking great Bill. Definitely an iconic shape.

I've also heard it that there's still quite a proportion of undigested meat in dog turds which is another thing that makes them so irresistible to other dogs.

Oh no, Rammstein all the way. One of the best live bands I've ever seen and the stage shows are spectacular/ridiculous in equal measure.

That don't look like any Lada I've ever seen before. Hope it works better than their tanks.....

What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)
GusMac replied to Martinnfb's topic in Modelling Discussion
Thanks fellas. I'll try and do a thread for the rest Martin. It just started off as something to fiddle with while I procrastinated about starting the NMF P-47 but it's grown arms and legs as I've got into it and I'm really enjoying pushing my envelope. -

Making some progress on the Comet and diorama. Got all the storage from Panzerart painted and attached. Quite happy with how it looks given my lack of experience of brush painting stuff like this. Just trying out positions for the infantry and commander. The riders are from the ICM set and the headless commander is the Alpine Miniatures kit. Now we discover how bad my figure painting skills are. Last figure I painted was a white metal 1/12 figure of a RN gunner back after the Falklands war in '82, so 40 years ago! Also got an old picture frame and some air-dry clay, so I'm planning to make a start on the base soon. -
Never built a car kit but I do fancy this one. I'm the opposite Rob and a huge fan of that era of turbocharged 'loony' cars. Just crazy power with the ground effect made for far more interesting racing than you get now. Haven't watched F1 for 10 years as I just got totally turned off by the contrivance and artificiality of it, plus the lack of actual racing!

Looks interesting, any background on the story it's based on? I've just finished Max Hastings' book on the Korean war which is a great read like all his books.

BBC news just showed some phone footage from Ontario Carl and it looked apocalyptic. Glad only your fence took a hit.

Looks great Rob. I'd have been too tempted to paint the cannon balls in one triangle all red or with spots and stripes! -
Beautiful work Sasha, especially on such a small airframe.

That's great Misha. How are the clear sprues on yours? I've seen a lot of horror stories of them arriving with the canopy smashed in transit.

Looking good Kai, lots of detail like your Mirage wells. -
Yes, it's the tight corners here that are the test. Thanks for the explanation of the 'correct' cornering technique for a Harley as all my biker mates ride Japanese bikes or Ducatis, so never heard of that one. They all regard the ability to get as close to horizontal as a badge of honour until it goes horribly wrong! Done a bit too much hospital visiting over the years than I'd care to remember.

Looks amazing Ernie. A hilltop road near us gets a lot of bikers in the summer and they pass near us as they come off the bottom. You can always tell the Harleys just by that glorious, distinctive sound they have. Not the best round some of the sharp corners though, or for typical Scottish summer weather! 😄

I remember jumping in a friend's minivan years ago and struggling to find the seatbelt - they were hidden behind cut-down lengths of plastic guttering as it was the only way to stop his Boxer eating it's way through them!

Looking really good Sasha. The panel line wash really sets off the metal finish.

Thanks for that Carl. That's a Henschel shaped hole in my wallet coming! 😄

Looking very sharp Peter. The decals have laid down very nicely.
