Kaireckstadt
Tonight I repaired the scratches: and decided to bring a little more life to the sand by filling the panels with a slightly lighter shade of the sand and blend it in: Now it looks the way I wanted it and I can move over to the green color.

Kaireckstadt
Tonight I finished the preparation for the 2 other camouflage colors. Needed one package of (reusable) Blue Tack (can open a store with the other 3 I bought ) and lots of masking tape: I also prepared the painting instructions regarding the colors and their demarcation line. G/Gr=Green and Br=Brown: Now I can start the painting.

Kaireckstadt
Thank you all for your feedback! @ Gary: these tasks are all so time consuming. But when it’s preparation for painting it’s ok (Better than panelline rework).
Kaireckstadt
Tonight I started with the green color. Did some preshading before applying it: And then I applied the first layer of green: Next step will be to bring life to the green with a lighter shade and blending in.
Peterpools
Kai Sweet - super progress on the cammo. Your Blu tack/worm cammo looks right on. Nice going. Keep 'em comin Peter
DocRob
Looking good Kai. I found it particular difficult to work with blue tack or Panzer Putty worms for demarcation. It proved hard to me, to get the borders consistent. Might be easier with a huge plane like your Mirage, as it's absolutely necessary to keep the same AB angle at all times, to get it right. Cheers Rob
GazzaS
That green looks great, Kai. I imagine you'll be looking forward to the last color and peeling off all of that tape.

It took more than 2 hours to apply the green. You always have to take care of the correct airbrush angle and control the demarcation line. Maybe next time I‘ll try to airbrush freehand. 2 hours ago, GazzaS said: That green looks great, Kai. I imagine you'll be looking forward to the last color and peeling off all of that tape. Peterpools
Completely agree that masking with 'worms' is a lot harder then meets the eye. A few years back, I enjoyed building this 1/48th scale Kfir and spent a lot more time then I ever thought masking with blue tack. I discovered the key for me was to make the worms as thin as practical and consistency in thickness. Applying them was another story as the thinner I made them, the more they wanted to stretch. I do have a question regarding the Kfir - what what are the stripes for on the inner leading edges? Keep 'em comin Peter
GusMac
Great work on the cammo Kai. Looks like you're getting through as much Kabuki tape as I have been.

The Israeli 3-tone camouflage is so nice as the SEA-scheme of the Air Force! You captured the look perfectly! I tried to find out what the meaning of the white stripes on the slats is, but nobody knew so far. Will go on investigating. Maybe Someone here knows? 6 minutes ago, GusMac said: Great work on the cammo Kai. Looks like you're getting through as much Kabuki tape as I have been. Thanks and you‘re right Gus! Still need some more when it comes to the brown and I have to cover the green where necessary… BTW: When will we see the next update of your beauty?
Peterpools
Thanks Kai I never think much about those white stripes until I look at the model and some of the pic and then it drives me crazy. Keep 'em comin Peter
Kaireckstadt
Tonight I brought life to the green and started with the brown color: Next step is to apply the blue Tack demarcation between the green and brown and finish the airbrushing of the brown color. 7
