Sweet! Detail painting and weathering is awesome

Keep ‘me coming

Peter

Thanks for your feedback Peter. Up to now this kit makes lots of fun.
Hope this will last when it comes to the wings, tail and intakes because these seem to be the bottlenecks of the kit...

Finished the cockpit yesterday. The parts got flat varnish (I use Xtracolor exclusively) and some details like buckles were picked out with Tamiya Clear Gloss. Only thing missing now is the glass of the  HUD which will be added at a later stage of the build.

Very nicely weathered pit, Kai!  This is one more area I need to work on.  I'm lazy when it comes to pits.

Thanks for your feedback Gaz!

I always spend more time with the pits since it is one of the few things to take a closer look at at a jet.

This pit looks superb, lots of detail and lived in, like it has been in daily use. The F-16 is one of the few planes, where the bulb canopy seem to work like a magnifier, so effort well spent.

Cheers Rob

Thanks for your feedback Rob!

So it seems I achieved my goal: I wanted it to look like it was in daily use as it was at the time of the wars in Israel.

You did, indeed. I am always amazed at how diminutive the Mirage cockpit is compared to other contemporaries.

You are right: the cockpit is very tiny and there is not much space for the pilot. Not to compare with e.g. a Tornado Cockpit.

Awesome front office - light, realistic weathering is spot on.

Keep ‘em comin

Peter

Thank you for your feedback Peter!

It‘s nice to read that I achieved my goal with the cockpit to let it look busy and used.

Yesterday I assembled the complete pit and a typical Italeri topic arose: The pit sideconsole on the right side is too broad. Will never fit in the fuselage like that. Had to be grinded and sanded and test-fitting into the fuselage-half showed that it would fit now.
But that’s typical for Italeri: Test-fit, Test-fit and once again Test-fit!

The next problem which had to be solved was a prominent seam-line on top of both fuselage sides which seems to be caused by the design of the tool.
This has to be grinded and sanded very carefully not to destroy the details close to it.

The fotos I enclosed show the reworked area with rescribing and riveting still missing. This will be the next step and I will also describe the next 2 problems you have to solve.
