GazzaS Posted August 26, 2022 Author Posted August 26, 2022 For those who don't know... I love birds. Some more than others. Crows and ravens are a favorite. I refuse to own one or cage one, though. Who could deny another being the joys of flight? 3
Martinnfb Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Crows are highly intelligent and social animals. There is something very special about them. 2 1
GusMac Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 Love crows, rooks and ravens. There was a large murder which used to roost in a big old chestnut tree at the edge of a field where we often walk our dogs. A local developer cut it down when building his house despite the planning consent explicitly saying it had to stay, so I take great delight when I walk past now and see them roosting on the roof of his house and sh**ing all over his cars! 😁 4
AlanG Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 If there was a tree preservation order on it and he cut it down then he should have incurred a hefty fine. Grips my sweaty tackle when they do that 5
GusMac Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 I think he did pay up Alan but it's too bloody late to replant the tree by then. Too many damn builders and developers just ignore preservation orders because once they've done it, they know there's not a lot that can be done. Also winds me up no end. 5

Love them as well. Growing up we lived on a lot adjacent to a larger wooded property (Now part of a forest preserve). Whenever we heard frantic cawings, we knew that there was a Great Horned owl about. For some reason, the crows would surround the owl, but keeping their distance. Not sure why they did this, but clearly, this was some kind of organized behavior. Anyway, this gave us a chance to view the owl and the crows. My mother, however, has a dread of crows........A bad omen of sorts 3
