JohnB Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 This is the old Hasegawa (1983) release of this kit. It's been on my shelf for a looong time! It's still a great kit with good detail and excellent fit. I used a Aires cockpit, Quickboost seats, and AOA decals on the build. Painted with Testor's MM throughout. This a/c was flown by Maj. John Trotti from Chu Lai Vietnam in the late 60's. His book, Phantom Over Vietnam, was the "inspiration" for this build. I hope y'all will like the results of my efforts! Peterpools Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 John Simply stellar build and beautiful in every detail. Just goes to show what can be done with the older kits with some TLC, some AM to do a bit of updating in the detail department and applying our skills of today. Top notch work. What's on board for your next build? 2

What's on board for your next build? Thanks for the kind words Peter. I'm happy you like the final product! Just because a kit is old doesn't mean it's not any good. Not sure about what's next. I pulled the ZM Skyraider off the SOD for another look but I'm undecided if I want to resume that one. 😄 2

k5ikl Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 Well done John. In my 20 plus 1/48 Phantom builds all I have ever used is the Hasegawa and Monogram F-4 kits. They still build up nice after all these years. Still have a closet full of Phantoms. I'd better get busy and build some more. Jerry 2

JohnB Posted July 17, 2022 Author Posted July 17, 2022 Just for grins I decided to pose my recent build with one I built something like 25 years ago. Paint and decals have yellowed slightly over time.
Peterpools Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 John That's quite a good looking pair and it's easy to see both were built by the same talented builder. 1
Bill_S Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Some nice work, John! Do you display all your built models in one place? I'd love to see a picture. 1

I have 5 display cases full plus others on shelves, etc. Running out of room but that doesn't stop me from building. 2
