Great finish on the foiled Mig, Gary, the shine is outstanding. Love to see, what you do with the figures, it's 48 scale, right... :icon_eek:.

Cheers Rob

Thank you!  The finish will change as weathering progresses.  Yep...  1/48.  I don't imagine that these guys will get the attention that a 1/35 guy does.

Awesome figures and imagine a Jeep being included as part of a steering wheel kit 😉

Looking forward to seeing the dio come together and leave it to Martin to come up with fantastic detail photographs

Thank you!  Yep, Martin is the king of research photos.

Wow...   15 days since my last update.

Well...    there was a model show one weekend.  All weekend.  And a club meet...   and another club meet.

Anyway...   Today I weathered the Gaz 67B.  I'll matte coat it tomorrow.  Tonite the decals dry...   All three of them.

The dirt shows up better in person.  I didn't want to go crazy with it.  It is an air unit after all.

Well used and worn and surely earning her money. Looking mighty good

Thank you, Peter!  Not really sure about the seats yet.  They look a little too speckly for me.

Your Mig looks amazing! So does the little Gaz. I have Tamiya's 1/35 version, Tamiya

Includes one with their Korean war Easy Eight Sherman. I built the kit in the early 80's

Thank you!  It's a cool looking little jeep.  I hear they are as dependable as you could want.

Nice grimey GAZ, Gaz :D, I like the wiped areas on the windshield, but where are the wipers?

Cheers Rob

An American and a Russian meet Satan at the gates of Hell.  He asks both of them if they want to go to American Hell, or Russian Hell.

The American asks what the difference is between the two.  Satan replies::  In American Hell you eat one shovel full of shit in the morning and are then free for the rest of the day.  In Russian Hell you eat two shovels full of shit.

The American says:  "Easy...   I'll take American Hell."  The Russian says he will take Russian Hell.

Some time later, the American and the Russian meet by chance.  The Russian ask the American how he is doing.  The American replies:  "I'm doing great.  I eat my shovel of shit, and then I'm free for the rest of the day.  How about you?"  The Russian replies:  "In Russian Hell is better.  Some days no shit.  Some days no shovel"

Today...   no wipers.

Hi Everyone,

Since the one detail I had consciously decided to omit was the first question brought up by DocRob...   I added windshield wipers made from stretched sprue.

IMG_1177.thumb.JPG.e6b1525b94157d43c8441df9d6ace0ff.JPG

And...   for added detail...

An edition of Pravda...   carefully shrunk down to 1/48 scale.

IMG_1171.thumb.JPG.b7a5fe752fc59f7877ed8185cda76572.JPG

I also painted up our figures...   sadly the driver photos turned out to bad to show.

Not that the pilot photos are perfect.  While painting my pilot, I discovered he was molded with a cleft pallet.  Way to be inclusive, CZPlusmodel!

Here are some more jeep photos.  It;s been matte coated, so Ima call it done.

That ties it together Gary, the wipers look great. There can't be an effect without a reason ;). The pilot is very well depicted, your constant work with figure painting sure pays off, he looks extremely good in 48 scale.

Cheers Rob

Gaz, just catching up, wow and wow the foiling is stunning and the jeep used but not abused……….btw I use a tiny amount of the Autosol to wipe my  airbrush needles, cleans them superbly …….

Thank you Phil.

Thank you, Rob.  I figured I could get away with some things in 1/48.  But the macro photos kinda screwed that.  I was 50/50 whether I would leave the windscreen up, or lay it over the hood.

And here we are again....

No matter how I tired I couldn't be satisfied with the way the canopy looked.  So, I took an unusual step.  I employed Soviet pink caulking.

IMG_1181.thumb.JPG.c4fe6a1e747267bd151b1fd1e57fa150.JPG

of course....    macro photos again.  And very rough.  I would strip the whole thing if I wasn't ready to move on.  So, I'm just gonna keep rolling.

I do Gary, what a fine display. The foiling looks very realistic and there is the very slight ribbing in the foil, which makes the Mig look even more metallic. Foiling one, painting nil :D.
The figures and Gaz fit like a glove.

Cheers Rob

Well done Gaz! Sure is purty. Foiling isn't my cup of tea but you've done a great job of it! Very nice work. :)

WOW, just love your dio. The Mig's NMF couldn't be any more accurate being a beautiful foil finish - the jeep and figures looks brilliant.

Beautiful work and presentation.

Thank you Peter!  Very kind words.

Holy cow Gaz, that is spectacular!  Very nice job!

Thanks for sharing your foiling tips.  I have a P-47D on the shelf, and I've considered foiling it.  Is it hard to paint on top of foil and apply decals?

HI Mike,

Thank you!  My first foiled model was a P-47.  You can paint and decal over foil.   To decal, you must apply a layer of clear coat for the decal to adhere to.  I use Future as it sprays easily and is self-levelling.  Masking is fraught with perils, just as if you were masking over decals.  Much care must be given to de-tacking your mask as well as lifting it off with the most care as foil will lift as easily as a prom dress when you don't want it to and will hold on like besieged infantry when you want to remove a panel.
