CrankyCrafstman Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Hey Irish That cat is looking real good, the pipes that you have to glue together and fill before painting are the intake pipes. Ron G 2

Ron G The intake pipes on the rear of the engine are one piece, two into one. The exhaust are all two pieces you have to glue together except for two single straight ones, one on each side. the top picture (someone’s else’s build) shows the one piece intakes and the bottom is mine with the one piece intakes installed with two of the two piece exhaust pipes in place 7 1
Peterpools Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Mike Absolutely brilliant work on the Big P&W - looking fantastic. 4
Irishman1 Posted December 10, 2022 Author Posted December 10, 2022 Oh my gawd, it’s been a while since I pístese.. having a puppy to train and a wired with pneumonia kinda slowed me down. I’ve got the wings done, one folded and one flat. Machine guns and bays built. I also received my airfix 1/24 scale mk9 spitfire and poster too! It’s on the pile with my typhoon, hurricane and p-47 to do yet! I replaced the empty shell casing shoots with some plastic channel that I melted. 7 2
Lusitanian Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Before you get too far on the wing folds - they were considered and external surface and were camouflaged in the local camo color. 2
Irishman1 Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 Been down due to some eye problems!! Hopefully I’ll be able to see well enough to get busy on all these models soon!! on the internal colors, I know this f6f-5 should be all gloss sea blue, I’ve built several already and I think I’m bored with the single color. I’m usually a “accurate “ builder but I’ve always wanted to have a three or four color hellcat… still not sure what I’m going to do On 1/4/2023 at 1:54 PM, Lusitanian said: Before you get too far on the wing folds - they were considered and external surface and were camouflaged in the local camo color. 3
Irishman1 Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 We’ll, a couple torn retinas, eye surgery, my wife’s bad pneumonia then we both get a bad dose of COVID, I’m finally back to my hellcat!! This is the first time I’ve used masks to paint insignias on my models. I think it turned out well. Practice will make perfect! 9
Martinnfb Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Sorry to hear about your health problems, wish you guys fast and full recovery. Hellcat looks mighty fine, and now we need some more puppy pictures Cheers Martin 2
Irishman1 Posted April 2, 2023 Author Posted April 2, 2023 More progress and a question to you! I've painted the main color and the stars/bars. Do I now spray the pledge clear on it now before applying the detail decals?? I used Vallejo acrylic primer and top coat.. I still have some detail painting to finish up yet 3 2
KevinM Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Typically yes but I always leave the canopy masked during the process because when all said and done the last coat is the flat that ruins glass. 3
