HubertB Posted September 23 Posted September 23 I still have a few old issues of Airfix Magazine, and Scale Models. One of the Scale Models issues (of 1974 , or 1976 ?) introduces a new « revolutionary » (which it was, at the time) model improvement technique : photo-etch. At that time, they were using clear varnish to assemble the PE parts, as CA glue did not exist yet, at least for the general public … That reminds me how old I am getting Hubert 4 2
HubertB Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Did you notice the Monogram ad with a « 1/32 B-52 Stratofortress » ? Talk of a typo …. Hubert 1 4
Bomber_County Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Still have a collection from that period, having a Badger airbrush was a dream then……. 2

PanzerWomble Posted October 31 Author Posted October 31 More - Airfix Catalogue from 1975 ...they still sell some of these dog old mouldings ....talk about sweaty assets . My original (long lost copy that fell apart circa 1979) had a lot of circled pictures around the ones I'd built . ] 4
GusMac Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Recognise a few I built/massacred as a kid in there. I certainly recall making a complete dog's breakfast of of a dio with Monty's Humber as I didn't realise lacquers wouldn't play nice with polystyrene. 2

I did the Rommel's Halftrack a few years back , which apparently was "kit of the year" when launched . It wasn't as grim as you might expect but any kit launched after 1995 would make it look bad. Shape was ok , small details really let it down with the technology of the day for moulding 3
DocRob Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I must have had this catalogue too, I remember all of the box arts. I might have circled numerous of the kits as well. Huh, sentimental journey, thanks for showing PW. Cheers Rob 3

Martinnfb Posted November 1 Posted November 1 It is funny how after all those years we are still pouring money into those 1/24 scale relics, just because they are the best representations of the given subjects. Sorry Trumpeter. Nostalgia aside, I miss ingenuity and touch of the old school machinists with calipers, protractors and gauges 4
