GusMac Posted Tuesday at 09:57 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:57 PM This is my second resin kit courtesy of Ernie as this was the prize for the Let's Get Wet group build. Definitely a more straightforward project than the Viggen, although also considerably smaller and simpler an airframe. The parts from Iconicair had minimal casting blocks and clean up was very easy. Given the small parts count construction was pretty quick. All exterior paintwork was MRP and the kit decals were used which performed well. I'd definitely recommend the Iconicair kits to anyone. No need to fear resin kits like this as decent modelling skills will easily let you succeed. Think I've definitely caught the resin bug - I found myself window shopping an HpH Me410 last night! 🤪 Thanks Ernie! 5 1

Beware though that the HPH kits, whilst great and with unique subjects, are less easy to deal with than Jetmads or Iconicair. The big frustration with them is the « wafer » in which the detailing parts are molded, and separating and sanding them is a real PITA… As for Iconicair, their subjects were far too exotic to warrant enough demand and the brand is defunct AFAIK. DocRob Posted Wednesday at 09:32 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:32 AM Somehow the Attacker skipped my attention in real live as well as a model. Thank you Gus, for putting that right with your fantastic representation of this rare bird. I´m eager to see, where your resin infection carries you. I only built one full resin plane, a Caudron racer made by SBS. It was a very pleasant build and I can recommend their kits, but they are only 1/48 and 1/72 and mostly interwar planes and racers. Cheers Rob 3 1

Bomber_County Posted Wednesday at 10:21 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:21 AM Absolutely stunning Gus, i haven’t opened the box to resin yet but after following your build very tempted. When sanding etc how do you negate the dust? Congratulations on a stunning build…… 2 1

Mainly just wet sanding and I've been cautious and worn my respirator but there was very little sanding required on this compared to the Viggen. The clean up done on the main fuselage parts, etc by Iconicair before packaging had already done most of the hard work. 1

Hubert Yes, unfortunately they no longer seem to be doing aircraft kits, although all the AM stuff like bomb trolleys and David Brown tractors, etc still seems to be in production. If all their stuff is of this quality then it's a real shame the kits have fallen by the wayside.
